Job Title: Classroom Assistant – Middle School

Position Type: Non-faculty, Staff, Non-Exempt, Part-Time

Typical Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. a couple of days a week, up to 29.5 hours/week

Reports to: Dean of Students – Middle School

Salary Range: $24.50/hour

Your Role.

The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a member to our middle school classroom assistant team! Classroom Assistants supports the mission of The Bear Creek School by helping create a nurturing, predictable, and supportive environment for students. In this role, Classroom Assistants partner with teachers by providing instructional support as directed, assisting with logistical tasks, and contributing to the overall operation of the school through supervision in shared spaces such as the playground and cafeteria. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the mission of The Bear Creek School
  • Foster a predictable, supportive community by engaging the students in a caring, encouraging manner
  • Report on time to each assignment
  • Provide logistical support for teachers by copying, laminating, grading papers, and creating documents
  • Provide classroom instructional help as directed by the teacher
  • Supervise recess
  • Handle student conduct issues using the school’s code of conduct policies and procedures and report concerns to the appropriate person
  • Oversee cafeteria operations by aiding students with their lunches, ensuring tables are cleaned and sanitized, and accurately entering lunch data into the computer system
  • Maintain workroom/Classroom Assistant station in an orderly fashion
  • Attend Classroom Assistant meetings and contribute positively
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Holds CPR/AED/First Aid certification (with epinephrine autoinjector supplement ) or obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer (sponsorship is not available for this position.)

Physical Requirements

  • Able to clean tables and sweep floors
  • Able to patrol the playground during recesses
  • Able to quickly get to a student on any portion of the playground, including raised portions and play areas with wood chips
  • Able to kneel beside a student lying on the ground to assist and/or perform CPR
  • Able to quickly get to a student in inclement weather
  • Able to lift, drag, pull, or push 60 pounds or more
  • Able to climb playground equipment
