Migration Deployment Specialist – Scheduling (IBM Z Workload Scheduler)

Lead migrations of batch scheduling workloads to IBM Z Workload Scheduler by analyzing legacy scheduler definitions, mapping jobs and dependencies, executing parallel tracking and validation, monitoring execution via TSO/ISPF and scheduler interfaces, resolving issues, and training operational teams.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced scheduling migration specialist to support large-scale migrations to IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IZWS / IWS). This role serves as a subject matter expert in batch scheduling conversion across development, test, and production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support migration of batch scheduling workloads to IBM Z Workload Scheduler.
- Analyze legacy scheduling definitions from CA-7, CA ESP, Jobtrac, BMC Control-M, and ASG Zeke/Zebb and map them to IBM scheduler structures.
- Execute parallel tracking, schedule validation, dependency analysis, and issue resolution.
- Monitor workload execution using TSO/ISPF and IBM scheduler interfaces.
- Provide technical guidance and training to scheduling teams and operational staff.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
- Strong mainframe background in OS/390 or z/OS
- Deep hands-on experience with IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IZWS / IWS).
- Hands-on migration experience from Non-IBM / ISV scheduling platforms such as CA-7, CA ESP, CA Workload Automation ESP, Jobtrac, BMC Control-M, or ASG Zeke/Zebb to IBM Z Workload Scheduler.
- Strong TSO/ISPF editing skills and expert-level understanding of JCL.
- Experience with dependency analysis, schedule validation, report review, and iterative parallel tracking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical collaboration and customer-facing work.
Preferred / Additional Skills
- REXX programming skills.
- Workload Automation Programming Language WAPL
- Dynamic Workload Console familiarity.
