What You’ll Be Doing

We’re looking for a Manager of Mobile and Frontend Engineering to lead and scale our client platform teams across web and mobile. You will be responsible for building, managing, and guiding a high-performing team while partnering closely with Product and Design to deliver exceptional user experiences across the BeatStars platform.

You’ll be more than a manager - you’ll be responsible for team performance, execution quality, and engineering culture across Mobile and Frontend.

This role exists to elevate engineering quality, improve delivery predictability, and ensure we’re building fast, reliable, and scalable experiences across all user-facing platforms. You’ll help define how teams plan, execute, and collaborate while supporting technical excellence through your leadership.

Within your first quarter, you’ll be ramping into team leadership, establishing clear execution practices, and helping the team deliver with greater clarity and consistency.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead engineers across Frontend and Mobile teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Build a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative engineering culture.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to align on priorities, scope, and delivery timelines.
  • Drive execution — ensure projects are delivered on time, with high quality and predictability.
  • Support architectural decisions and technical direction in collaboration with senior engineers and technical leads.
  • Establish and improve engineering processes, including sprint planning, code reviews, CI/CD, and release practices.
  • Ensure high standards for code quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability across web and mobile platforms.
  • Identify and address technical debt, resourcing gaps, and execution risks proactively.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to deliver seamless user experiences across platforms.
  • Mentor and grow engineers at different levels, helping them develop both technically and professionally.

What You’ll Need

  • 7–10+ years of experience in software engineering, with experience delivering production web and/or mobile applications at scale.
  • 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams.
  • Strong background in frontend technologies (React, Angular, JavaScript) and/or mobile development (React Native, iOS, Android).
  • Experience building and scaling consumer-facing applications.
  • Solid understanding of system design, architecture, and performance considerations across web and mobile platforms.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with Product and Design.
  • Proven ability to drive execution and deliver projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills — able to align teams and stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with people leadership and delivery responsibilities.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred (Master’s or higher is a plus).

You’ll also have access to the full engineering toolset (AWS, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, mobile build systems, analytics tooling, etc.).

This role might be for you if:

  • You enjoy building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • You care deeply about execution, accountability, and delivering high-quality products.
  • You can balance people leadership with strong technical judgment.
  • You’ve seen what great engineering culture looks like — and want to help build it.
  • You’re comfortable working cross-functionally with Product and Design.
  • You focus on outcomes, not just output.
  • You move quickly, but maintain high standards.
  • You believe great user experiences require strong collaboration across disciplines.

Benefits

We're a small and growing team working together closely and operating with complete autonomy and freedom. This means you will have a direct impact on any project that you work on, and your success will be felt across the company. Some other perks include:

  • Elite Tier Benefits Program - generous contributions towards medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents
  • 401(k) Matching
  • FSA/HSA
  • 20 PTO days (+5 Days at 4 years tenure) and routine sick days
  • 10 Company Observed Holidays + 2 Floating Holidays
  • 8 weeks of parental leave paid at 100%
  • Company-sponsored Short Term Disability and Basic Life Insurance
  • Voluntary Benefits (LTD, Additional Life, and 401k)
  • Flexible work hours

  • $30/month wellness reimbursement

  • Global Recognition and Anniversary Program
  • Plenty of opportunities while we grow and scale in a global environment
  • Access to On-Demand Learning Platform

Our general global core working hours are 10 am-2 pm EST Monday through Friday. While we generally have the flexibility to build an 8-hour workday, we ask for flexibility during core hours, as from time to time, it may be needed to attend global calls that cover more than 2 time zones during these hours. We ask folks to schedule events when possible, at least 3 working days in advance.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
