This description is a wishlist, not a checklist. We want to find a super-amazing person to join our team, and we're well aware that “super-amazing" can come in all different forms. If you're a little less experienced on a specific bullet point, or if you didn't go to a fancy school, apply anyway. We look at candidates, not resumes.

About the Role

Nebula is looking for a Motion Designer to join our production team. Your responsibilities include motion design and asset management for the following types of content: longer-form narrative content, short-form YouTube content, internal video content, brand-specific spots, marketing materials, and sizzle reels. You are a creative voice in the making of intelligent and engaging videos for our streaming platform, Nebula, and for our roster of exciting digital creators. You’ll be expected to work efficiently, keep to tight deadlines, communicate effectively and professionally to produce quality work.

Our ideal candidate is someone with great creative instincts who can think independently about how to convey information in a dynamic and original way.

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years experience in editing educational/YouTube media projects.
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite, primarily After Effects.
  • Exceptionally organized in digital asset management and systems.
  • Knowledgeable in motion design techniques, workflows, and tools.
  • Basic understanding of editing fundamentals.
  • Experience in researching & placing b-roll and/or stock footage.
  • Capacity to work with tight deadlines.
  • A good eye for design.
  • Ability to dive in and bring your creativity to any project.
  • A hunger for knowledge and curiosity about the wider world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create visually and intellectually engaging content.
  • Raise the bar creatively, delivering ever-better, best-in-class cuts & elements that surprises and delights our audience.
  • Analyzing and matching pre-established styles of various channels to stay consistent within their brand guidelines.
  • Receive and apply feedback with an open-mind.
  • Display skills to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Work under pressure and within tight deadlines on multiple concurrent projects while being flexible to changing business and technical conditions.
  • Passionate storyteller who is committed to producing exceptional work.
  • Flexibility to adapt with changing timelines and deliverables.

Perks

  • Competitive salary between $55,000-$65,000 USD or local International equivalent. We do not use formal job titles internally and similarly named positions may have different compensation levels. Actual starting salary will depend on various considerations, including: work experience, skills, specializations, training, and location.
  • Flexible work hours and vacation policy.
  • Diverse, socially-minded team of nice people.
  • Medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • 401(k) and other benefits.

About Us

Nebula is both the largest and fastest growing creator-built premium streaming service. We believe that the future of the creator economy should belong to the creators, and our responsibility is to empower and enable those creators. In 2024, we were listed as one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies”.

We're a distributed company. We have offices in NYC and Denver, but more than 80% of the team is remote, in exotic locations like the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Ohio.

There are things to do and meetings to be had, but we pride ourselves on our flexibility. We think this makes Nebula a great place to work for people with families, or whose productive hours tend to be outside of the 9-5. We care about what you do more than when you do it.

How We Hire

We think that diversity is important. Many of us have non-traditional backgrounds. We work in the online education space, so we understand how much can be learned on your own, on the Internet, and outside of a classroom.

If that sounds like you, we’re happy to care less how many years of experience you have or where you went to school. Apply anyway. And if you have any feedback on how we could reach or appeal to a more diverse pool of talent, get in touch.

Tip: “tv” is part of our domain, not our name.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
