Join HSI as a Remote Training Support Specialist (MSHA Moderator) and play a critical role in supporting our virtual MSHA training programs. In this role, you’ll be the behind-the-scenes hero helping adult learners successfully attend and complete mandatory safety courses from the comfort of their homes.

This temporary role is ideal for someone who enjoys remote work, thrives in a structured environment, and is confident troubleshooting basic tech issues with calm and compassion.

  • Start Date: July 2025
  • End Date: December 2025
  • Type: Temporary

What you will do:

As part of our virtual training support team, you’ll work closely with the MSHA Instructor to ensure every training session runs smoothly—from registration to final sign-off.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Register and enroll students in MSHA Part 48 New Miner and Refresher courses
  • Communicate clearly with students via email regarding login instructions and expectations
  • Conduct pre-training tech checks to ensure students’ devices are ready for virtual participation
  • Monitor live virtual classrooms (Adobe Connect) and provide real-time support to students and instructors
  • Troubleshoot basic tech issues (e.g., webcam, audio, connectivity, login issues)
  • Track attendance, participation, and student conduct during training
  • Document and escalate technical or participation issues when needed
  • Collaborate with the internal MSHA team to improve workflows and enhance learner experience

Work Schedule:

  • This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position with rotating weekly shifts based on course assignments. All times are listed in Pacific Time (PT).
  • You must be available to work either of the following shifts:
    • New Miner Course:
      🕠 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM (includes a 1-hour lunch)
    • Annual Refresher Course:
      🕕 6:15 AM – 3:30 PM (includes a 1-hour lunch)
  • Schedule will be communicated in advance, and flexibility to work both shifts is required.
Requirements

You’re a service-first professional who brings positivity, tech-savviness, and calmness under pressure to every customer interaction.

  • 2+ years of experience in remote customer service or administrative support roles
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new platforms quickly
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and virtual platforms (e.g., Adobe Connect, Zoom, or similar)
  • Associate degree preferred but not required
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet workspace
Benefits
  • Gain valuable experience with a respected training and compliance provider
  • Work remotely with a supportive team
  • Help individuals meet critical safety training requirements
  • Temporary, flexible contract role to take you through the end of 2025

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
