  • Build lasting customer relationships
Establish trusted relationships with key customers and influential researchers across a broad range of disciplines. Support the development of reference sites and promote long-term customer success.
  • Collaborate across functions
Coordinate territory activities with Inside Sales, Field Applications, Clinical Sales, and Marketing colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality customer engagement.
  • Manage pipeline and forecasting
Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline using consultative selling methodologies. Provide accurate forecasts and maintain timely CRM updates, funnel reporting, and competitive intelligence.
  • Deliver commercial results
Pursue growth opportunities with urgency, discipline, and resilience. Work toward clearly defined performance objectives and navigate competitive sales situations with preparation, insight, and persistence.
  • Represent Oxford Nanopore in the market
Participate in regional seminars, workshops, conferences, and other customer-facing events to strengthen Oxford Nanopore’s visibility and scientific credibility.
  • Complete training and administrative requirements
Participate fully in required training programs and demonstrate proficiency as assessed. Manage expenses, reporting, and other administrative responsibilities while adhering to company policies and applicable safety standards.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred
  • At least five years of field-based commercial experience, including a minimum of three years selling scientific instrumentation, high-technology platforms, or complex laboratory solutions
    OR
  • Relevant inside sales or distribution experience with Oxford Nanopore technology or within the NGS market
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, consultative sales processes in competitive environments
  • Strong understanding of territory planning, pipeline development, forecasting, and CRM systems
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a matrixed, international organization
  • Strong commercial judgment and experience working toward budgets, revenue goals, and performance targets
  • Established relationships with scientific and operational stakeholders within the assigned territory, or a demonstrated ability to build these relationships quickly
  • A competitive, accountable approach and the persistence to win business through preparation, insight, and customer focus

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
