Do you have what it takes to assist in the planning, forecasting, and implementation of resource requirements for Spectrum's network systems? As a Network Engineer II, you will be responsible for monitoring protocol compatibility standards, developing and implementing network enhancements, and making recommendations for improvement. You will also be responsible for implementing network architecture and designs. All of this will directly support our mission to keep millions connected.
Our Network Technology Operations team engineers and manages an advanced infrastructure that offers a full range of state-of-the-art residential and business services including Spectrum Internet®, TV, Mobile, and Voice. Through sophisticated innovations and service reliability, we ensure our customers never miss a second of what matters most.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering
  • Integrate communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations
  • Evaluate new products, performs network problem resolution
  • Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards
    Implement approved methods of procedure
  • Implement and assist in designing protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement
  • Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration, and optimization
  • Provide tier support across organizations. Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
  • Coach less experienced staff
  • Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable

Days are fast-paced, and a learning mindset is essential in Network Technology Operations. As you troubleshoot network issues alongside a collaborative team of engineers, you'll get to know all the various platforms Spectrum is responsible for. Our engineers leverage some of the latest technology such as optical, routers, and switches to overcome technical challenges. WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Three (3) year of Data Network experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and / or equivalent work experience.
  • Technical skills: Demonstrated knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols, Demonstrated data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport), knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology, and using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
  • Skills: Knowledge of basic network devices, basic network appliances, and network designing software such as Visio.
  • Abilities: Ability to read, write and speak the English language, Ability to use personal computer and software applications and Microsoft Office, Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and learn new technology quickly.
  • Travel Ability: This position is eligible for our Hybrid Work Policy. Eligible employees can work from home up to one day each week.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred Education: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
  • Preferred Experience: Knowledge of company products and services.

  • Depending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the job
  • Occasional travel as required

The base pay for this position generally is between
$75,200.00 and $120,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
