This position is based out of our Chicago office, located at 233 S. Wacker Drive, Suite 8400, Chicago, IL 60606. This is a hybrid role, requiring three days in the office and two days remote per week.

 

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and support of our organization’s network infrastructure. This includes managing LANs, WANs, VPNs, wireless networks, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and phone systems.

 

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with the Director of Network Operations to ensure our network and communications systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with our broader IT strategy and goals.

 

This role requires a strong foundation in networking protocols and architecture, with hands-on experience in managing Cisco devices, network security, and Microsoft Azure networking. The ideal candidate will be adept at configuring and maintaining Linux OS, coordinating installations and changes (IMAC) for complex systems such as Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and SIP-based phone systems, and troubleshooting both hardware and software network issues.

 

A strong communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users, this individual must also excel in documentation, analysis, and collaboration. Responsibilities
 

Principal Accountabilities / Essential Job Functions:


•Implements, configures, and maintains network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls,
and wireless access points.
• Monitors network performance and troubleshoots network issues to ensure optimal uptime and
efficiency.
• Assists in the design and implementation of new network solutions and improves
resilience of the current network.
• Ensures network security through implementation of company standards and best
practices.
• Performs regular network maintenance and upgrades.
• Collaborates with other IT teams to resolve complex technical issues and provide network-related
support.
• Maintains network documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Participates in the planning and implementation of disaster recovery procedures for network
systems, including maintaining current backups, images, and snapshots
• Stays current with emerging network technologies and industry trends.
• Assists in managing relationships with network service providers and vendors.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to Community Technology Support Coordinators.
• Supports the configuration and maintenance of VoIP and other network-dependent systems.
• Supports and coordinates the installation, configuration, and maintenance of:

o Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) to ensure optimal cellular coverage throughout company
facilities.
o The company's phone systems, including PBX and SIP-based solutions, with a focus on Mitel
systems.

•Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to DAS and phone systems.

 

This position requires approximately 25% travel.


Qualifications
 

Education and Experience:

 

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field or commensurate level of experience is required.


• Work Experience: Minimum 5 years relevant experience is required, including experience in network administration and engineering, working with Network Access Control (NAC) solutions, and utilizing common packet capture tools such as Wireshark, TCPDump, etc.. At least 2 years of experience working with DAS and enterprise phone systems is required. Experience with Mitel phone systems is preferred.


• Licensure/Certification: Cisco networking CCNA is required. CCNP Preferred. Additional certifications in security or cloud technologies is a plus.
