Pay: $26.44 - $43.50 / hr DOE

Schedule: Mon - Fri; day shift (w/ flexibility as needed)

Location: Vancouver, WA | HP office

What this job involves:

The Operating Engineer supports daily facility operations by performing hands-on operation, monitoring, maintenance, and repair of building systems. This role focuses on execution and technical response, ensuring systems operate safely, reliably, and in accordance with established procedures.

The Operating Engineer reports to the Engineering Lead and works closely with the engineering and facilities team to support preventative maintenance, corrective work, and operational continuity.

What Your day-to-day will look like:
  • Operate and monitor building systems including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and life-safety systems through routine inspections and system checks
  • Respond to service requests and alarms in a timely, professional manner to support building system uptime and reliability
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs according to established procedures and schedules, accurately documenting work in CMMS
  • Troubleshoot system issues and escalate deficiencies, risks, or recurring problems to the Engineering Lead
  • Follow safety policies and compliance requirements including lockout/tagout procedures, permit-to-work processes, and applicable codes and regulations
  • Report safety hazards and incidents promptly while maintaining operational standards and safe work practices
  • Support contractors and engineering team by coordinating access, monitoring work activities, and assisting with special projects and system upgrades

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in building operations, facilities maintenance, or a related technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read basic technical documentation, drawings, and manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in mechanical spaces.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work within a CMMS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical or vocational training in a related trade.
  • HVAC certification, operating engineer license, or equivalent credentials.
  • Experience supporting complex or multi-building facilities.
  • Experience working on-call or supporting after-hours response.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

55,000.00 – 90,500.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
