Overview
First and foremost, this position requires experience in both object-oriented programming (Java preferred) and optimization/operations research. If you have these qualifications and are interested in developing them further at an exciting start-up, this position is perfect for you.

Responsibilities
- Ramp: In the onboarding stage, senior members of the OR/AI team will get you up to speed on our technologies and help you develop your skill set to the point where you can contribute to the development of cutting edge optimization and AI tools for the logistics industry
- Contribute: Become a Java champion within the organization both assisting and supporting continuous improvement and refactoring efforts for our existing infrastructure
- Execute: Engage heavily in the SDLC (research, design, experimentation, development. deployment, monitoring, and maintenance) to ensure stability and quality of the codebase
- Research and Implement: best practices to enhance our existing machine learning infrastructure in production environments
- Ideate: You will have the freedom to ideate and apply novel methodologies and techniques
- Grow: You will have the ability to learn directly from leaders the AI and optimization fields
Qualifications
- MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, or Industrial Engineering OR BS in one of these fields and two or more years of industry experience
- Significant experience with an object-oriented programming language (Java, C/#/++, etc.) and software design
- Background classwork or experience in optimization, probability, and statistics
- Some background in machine learning or artificial intelligence.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues and find resolutions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment
Nice to have
- Experience with Cloud Computing platforms: Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine or similar
- Experience working with messaging tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, and ZeroMQ
- Some experience with DevOps (i.e. Docker, Github Actions etc.)
- Background in stochastic optimization
- Background knowledge about logistics
- Gradle or other build systems
