Job Description:
At Shield AI, our PCB design team is responsible for all of the circuit board designs in our various hardware products. You will lead and build this team as our product lines grow and we take on new design challenges. This requires a good knowledge of best design practices, manufacturability, PCB design process, and leadership. Ideally you have experience designing with power electronics, RF, high-speed, analog, and AC. Aerospace and/or defense experience is helpful, but not required. A good understanding of IPC standards, PCB materials, and stack-ups is necessary.
What you'll do:
- Lead a team of 3-6 CAD engineers and librarians for all of Shield AI’s PCB design needs
- Mentor teammates and provide technical feedback
- Establish PCB design team standards and processes
- Drive team workload, priorities, and schedule
- When needed, contribute directly to PCB designs, library work, and ECOs
- Engage cross-functionally with engineering teams such as electrical, mechanical, thermal, and HW test
- Support manufacturing by incorporating reliability and failure feedback
- Work directly with PCB manufacturing and assembly vendors to drive highly reliable designs
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a PCB design engineer
- 3+ years of experience as a lead or manager
- Excellent technical fundamentals
- Extensive experience with constraints, net classes, variants, BOM and library management, design outputs
- Highly knowledgeable in cradle to grave PCB design processes
- Exceptional organization and communication skills
- Familiarity with Altium
