About the Role:
We’re looking for a People & Culture Business Partner to join our team on a contract basis through September 2026 to cover a parental leave. In this role, you’ll partner with Wave’s non-technical teams, including Compliance, Risk, Finance, Strategy, and Marketing, to align people strategies with business goals, support the development and retention of high performers, and help drive organizational excellence.
Reporting to the Senior Director, People & Culture, you’ll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional P&C team. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor, coach, and change agent to leaders and team members, providing day-to-day guidance while contributing to the design and delivery of people programs that foster engagement, performance, and continuous improvement.
We’re committed to a thorough onboarding and knowledge transfer process to set you up for success. While this is a contract role, you’ll be a fully integrated member of our team with opportunities to grow, contribute, and have fun along the way!
Here's how you'll make an impact:
- Be the go-to partner for your departments, building strong relationships and helping leaders align their people strategies with business goals.
- Tackle day-to-day employee relations with empathy and insight, whether it’s navigating through conversations, supporting team development, or coaching through change.
- Deliver consistent, proactive HR support that keeps things running smoothly. This means clear communication, well-run processes, and keeping us on the right side of compliance.
- Work closely with other P&C teams such as People Operations and Talent Development to shape and deliver people programs that support compensation, performance, and growth.
- Help design, improve, and roll out initiatives that make Wave a better place to work, your voice and ideas matter.
- Guide employee exits with care, from thoughtful exit interviews and sharing important information for their time after Wave to partnering with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition on what comes next.
- Manage leaves of absence with compassion and clarity, keeping everyone informed and supported from leave planning to return-to-work.
- Jump in to support fellow P&C team members when needed
You'll thrive here by possessing the following:
- 5 years of experience in a People & Culture (or HR) role where you’ve been a trusted partner to teams and leaders
- Post-secondary education in HR or a related field or equivalent experience CHRP designation is a nice-to-have (but not required)
- A solid understanding of HR best practices and Canadian labour laws.
- The ability to juggle shifting priorities with a calm, focused mindset.
- Top-notch communication skills and a natural ability to build trust and influence others, even during challenging conversations.
- A collaborative spirit and a growth mindset, you’re curious, open to feedback, and love learning.
- Experience in influencing and driving change.
- A calm presence under pressure and a strong sense of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in everything you do.
