About the role

You’ll be the right hand to our People Ops Lead and the boots on the ground for the day-to-day operations that keep our US team running smoothly. You’ll own creating an office that supports our team to do their best work, ensuring all the pieces come together during a new starter’s onboarding, and shaping the moments that keep our team connected and bring our culture to life.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced opportunity for someone who’s hungry to make an impact, wants to learn from an epic team, and finds real meaning in helping others. We don’t care whether you have direct experience in this field. We’re looking for a self-starter who excels at whatever they put their mind to – in the past, that might have looked like your studies, your sport, or a personal pursuit. Your character will really matter: bring joy, humility, a deep hunger to learn, and high standards for your own performance.

This is a new role. You will add horsepower to our US operations as our team grows quickly.

What your day could look like
  • People experience: Bring our culture to life. Make every person feel welcomed and seen.

    • Deliver team events and support on bigger company celebrations.

    • Own delivering how we celebrate our people, from birthdays and work anniversaries to farewells and everything in between.

  • Office management: Keep our Boulder office humming. This is our US headquarters, and you’ll be the person making sure it’s the best place to be - stocked and running smoothly.

    • Keep the snacks and drinks for the team stocked and orderly.

    • The go-to person when something needs fixing, coordinating with vendors to make it happen.

    • Support future office moves and changes to the space.

  • Onboarding: Be one of the first people our new starters meet - their guide to how things work here, both practically and culturally.

    • Make sure new starters have what they need to hit the ground running.

    • Coordinate equipment, system access and other setup with the relevant teams.

    • Help managers ensure every new starter gets up to speed fast and feels in control of their journey at Halter.

  • People systems: Keep our people information, systems and workflows accurate and up to date, and spot where a better process would save everyone time.

This is a generalist role - we can promise you that other opportunities and projects will pop up. You'll be part of making it all happen.

A day in your life might look like
  • You’re in early because two new starters begin today. Laptops are ready, a hand-written note from the team is on their desk, and you’re at the door to welcome them.

  • The snack order arrives at 9am. You unpack it, and notice the merch cupboard is chaos again, so you block out a half hour to sort it.

  • Two of the meeting room TVs have stopped working before a company-wide call. You get IT on it and move the meeting to a room that works.

  • You run a week-one check-in with last Monday’s new starters, walking them through their trip to New Zealand and how we look after our company vehicles.

  • You overhear the team talking about the new brewery down the road and make a booking for Friday afternoon’s team drinks.

  • You remember a teammate’s one-year anniversary is tomorrow. You give their manager a heads up and pull their celebratory one-year jumper out of the cupboard.

  • You look ahead in the calendar and notice the move to the new Boulder office is fast approaching. You proactively book in a team of movers and start brainstorming ways to make the office move easy and fun for the team.

  • A bunch of the overseas Halter team are in town next week, so you get a full team lunch on the calendar and make sure they have access to the tech they need to book meeting rooms while in town.
You will need a valid US license for this role as you will be moving and coordinating vehicles regularly.

We’re looking for someone who is…
  • A weapon at organizing: strong operational and project management ability, with a track record of getting things done in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

  • Calm under pressure: you can drop everything for an urgent request, sort it, and pick your day back up without missing a beat.

  • Highly empathetic: you read between the lines and put yourself in other people’s shoes.

  • Unreasonably hospitable: you bring a customer-service mindset to every employee, every time. A hospitality background would be an incredible asset in this role!

  • A strong communicator and cares deeply for the details: clear in writing and in person, and nothing slips through the cracks.

  • Thoughtful: you have great judgement, high-integrity and are trustworthy with sensitive information.

  • In love with systems: obsessed with making things better: you spot an opportunity to improve something, and you just do it. You hate making the same mistake twice.

  • A scrappy go-getter: you excel without structure and can handle a vague brief with ease. No task is too big or small, whether you’re choosing a new office space for the team or remembering a team member’s favorite snack for their Birthday.

Our Benefits
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP): Own a part of Halter and share in our growth and success

  • 401(k): 100% match on the first 3% contributed, plus 50% match on the next 2% (up to a 4% employer match), with immediate vesting

  • Comprehensive health benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting the first day of the month after you join (with most premiums covered, including 100% of employee-only health premiums on select plans)

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) & paid wellness leave: Access confidential support through JustWorks plus 3 paid wellness days per year

  • Personal growth fund: $750 USD per year to support learning, development, or personal growth goals

  • Unlimited PTO: Take time off when you need it—no accrual required, available from day one

  • Parental leave: 16 weeks paid leave for birthing parents and 8 weeks paid leave for non-birthing parents

  • Onboarding travel to New Zealand: Fly to NZ for onboarding at Halter HQ in Auckland—meet the team, visit a test farm, and immerse yourself in all things Halter

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
