About the Team:

Our mission is to redefine how rockets are built and launched. At the Cape launch site, our team handles all aspects of vehicle, payload, pad, and recovery operations. As a Fitter on the Launch Team, you'll play a pivotal role in building critical components and systems on the TerranR launch site. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced aerospace environment, complete complex projects, and collaborate seamlessly across teams. You should be capable of delivering high-quality work.

About the Role:

As a Fitter on the Launch Team, you will be responsible for fabricating and fitting critical piping systems that support the Terran R launch site, process piping, utility systems, and other ground support infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure piping systems are installed safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards. Your expertise in pipe fitting, attention to detail, and ability to produce in both shop and field environments will be essential to building reliable systems that support launch operations.

About You:

  • You have 1–2 years of professional pipe fitting, fabrication, construction, or mechanical experience, with a willingness to learn industrial piping systems
  • You're able to learn and follow basic pipe fitting procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements with guidance from experienced pipe fitters
  •  You can read and understand basic drawings, blueprints, measurements, and piping symbols, or demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn
  • You have basic experience with measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling, and preparing pipe and components for fabrication or installation
  • You're comfortable using common hand and power tools, including grinders, drills, saws, wrenches, levels, and other shop and field equipment
  • You can assist with fitting and installing pipe, valves, flanges, supports, and mechanical assemblies under the direction of experienced personnel
  • You're willing and able to safely operate or learn to operate equipment such as forklifts, reach lifts, and man lifts
  • You're able to safely lift up to 40 lbs. and work effectively in an active construction or industrial environment

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Previous experience in pipe fitting, welding, fabrication, construction, or a related skilled trade
  • Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, or other piping materials
  • Familiarity with pipe fittings, flanges, valves, supports, and common piping components
  • Previous experience in aerospace, power generation, shipbuilding, petrochemical, or other industrial environments
  • Experience working in field construction, commissioning, or industrial installation environments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take direction while developing skills

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
