  • Influence cloud governance, identity, and platform standards

  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and share insights across the platform community

  • Build trust and influence with engineering directors, principal engineers, and design leaders to shape backlogs and engineering practices.

  • Apply industry standards and evaluate emerging technologies, sharing relevant insights with the broader engineering community.

  • Act as a collaborative thought leader by questioning assumptions and considering downstream implications of technical decisions.

Essential Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering or platform engineering roles

  • Deep hands-on expertise with AWS

  • Experience with AWS IAM, AWS Lambda, and core compute services

  • Experience supporting production applications running in AWS

  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture patterns and operational tradeoffs

  • Experience with platform reliability, monitoring, and incident response

  • Experience operating in regulated or risk-aware enterprise environments

Desirable Qualifications

  • Exposure to AWS Connect

  • Event-driven system or orchestration experience

  • Prior software engineering experience (Java, JavaScript, or similar)

  • Familiarity with Redis or caching technologies

  • Experience supporting shared platforms used by large engineering organizations

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
