Title: Platform Engineer Lead

Job Summary:

Sourcemap is seeking an experienced Lead Platform/DevOps Engineer to join our growing development team. In this pivotal, hands-on role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and deploying new features to our platform, with a steadfast focus on ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. You will leverage your expertise in cloud infrastructure, security, containerization, IaC, and CI/CD to automate and enhance our systems. Beyond technical contributions, you will participate in developing and mentoring junior team members by sharing best practices and past experiences to support their growth.

This is a US-based, fully remote position, with availability to work within the EST time zone.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with software engineers and product managers to design and implement high performance, available and scalable solutions based on business requirements
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Github Actions) to automate software builds
  • Develop and maintain GitOps workflows (ArgoCD) to deploy software declaratively 
  • Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure via IaC (Terraform)
  • Manage and maintain Kubernetes and VMs
  • Develop and maintain logging and monitoring strategies (Datadog)
  • Advocate for and build with a strong focus on security
  • Provide on-call support to ensure end users continue to have the best experience
  • Mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance and support
  • Educate team members on working with key tools/platforms/concepts such as Azure, GitOps, IaC, Docker

Experience Requirements and Skills:

Required

  • 5+ years of Cloud Infrastructure/Azure experience
  • 5+ years of Linux/Unix experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker, infrastructure as code (IaC) with Terraform, and continuous delivery with ArgoCD and GitOps.
  • Proficiency in setting up CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitHub Actions.
  • 3+ years of networking experience
  • 3+ years of scripting/development experience
  • 2+ years of monitoring and logging experience, with familiarity using tools like Datadog
  • Demonstrated commitment to security-minded and scalable infrastructure design
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Experience with mentoring junior team members
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-growing organization. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of Databricks (Preferred)
  • Background in SaaS or product-focused engineering (Preferred)

Sourcemap offers a competitive compensation package based on job-related factors such as business needs, experience, level of responsibility, and qualifications. For this role, the base salary range is $140-$170. Sourcemap offers a benefit package, including but not limited to paid time off, paid holidays (including an extended End-of-Year break and Summer Fridays), 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, and 401k.
