Harper is a high-performance distributed application platform. It combines a database, in-memory cache, and real-time message broker to allow users to create enterprise-grade solutions with fewer moving parts, fewer lines of code, and a superior developer experience.

Role Overview:

This role will focus on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our platform while driving automation and operational excellence. You will work closely with development teams to build robust infrastructure, enhance observability, and proactively address system challenges. Your expertise in automation, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, monitoring, and platform reliability will ensure our systems operate smoothly and efficiently.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure across providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.​
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to facilitate efficient software delivery.​
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.​
  • Monitor system performance, reliability, and security, implementing necessary improvements to maintain optimal operations.​
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and platform issues promptly to minimize downtime.​
  • Implement and maintain observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or the ELK Stack.​
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to optimize application deployment and scaling strategies.​
  • Ensure security best practices are implemented and maintained across the infrastructure.​
  • Manage incident response and participate in on-call rotations to uphold platform reliability.​
  • Document infrastructure and operational processes to enhance transparency and scalability.​

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Platform Operations.​
  • Strong experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.​
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.​
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or ArgoCD.​
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and monitoring best practices.​
  • Experience with scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.​
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic.​
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.​
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.​

Nice-to-Have:

  • Knowledge of database management and optimization techniques.​
  • Experience with Harper 
  • Experience working at a startup 

Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000

Interview Process: 

  1. Recruiter Screen - 30 minute Zoom call to discuss the role and experience
  2. Hiring Manager Call - 30 minute Zoom call to get into the details of the role and experience 
  3. Take Home Assignment - Dev Ops Code Challenge 
  4. Panel Interview - 60 minute Zoom call to discuss the Code Challenge with a panel of employees
  5. Founder Interview - 30 minute Zoom call with our founders as a final round
