The world of digital assets is accelerating in speed, magnitude, and complexity, opening the door to new ways for leveraging the blockchain. Fireblocks’ platform and network provide the simplest and most secure way for companies to work with digital assets and it trusted by some of the largest financial institutions, banks, globally-recognized brands, and Web3 companies in the world, including BNY Mellon, BNP Paribas, ANZ Bank, Revolut, and thousands more.

We are seeking a highly experienced policy professional with a passion for blockchain technology and digital identity to join our Legal Team as we navigate a complex and evolving global regulatory environment.

About the Position

As Director of Policy - North America, you will be part of the Policy sub-group within the Fireblocks Legal Department.

You will be expected to establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key policymakers, legislators, and regulators in the US and Canada, in order to advance Fireblocks’ core mission of enabling all businesses to safely and securely interact with digital assets.

You will have an additional responsibility to work with Fireblocks’ Identity and Compliance Product teams to inform and enable the development of identity capabilities within our platform that reduce friction in the access to and transfers of crypto-assets, financial instruments, and payment funds.

To be successful in this role, you will need to work closely with the in-house regulatory team, product, and sales to understand strategic priorities and craft effective messages and delivery strategies in different geographic regions.  You will also be engaging directly with clients from time to time to help them navigate - and collaborate on shaping - digital asset regulation.

It is anticipated that you will be required to engage and manage local experts to maximize the impact of your work.

The base for this role is the US, with a strong preference for a NYC or Washington DC-based candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Engage directly with policymakers to shape public dialogue.
  • Develop and lead public policy strategy for Fireblocks products and businesses, including working with cross-functional teams to formulate our policy positions and strategies to support our global business objectives and drive favorable policy and regulatory outcomes.
  • Deliver regulatory analysis and, if needed, public sector engagement, to support our emerging identity products suite.
  • Provide strategic advice on the direction of US policy to the leadership team to inform our product and business strategy.
  • Build and manage a network of key senior stakeholder and influencer relationships to help shape a positive policy and regulatory environment.
  • Direct policy projects on a host of issues affecting the industry, e.g. custody of digital assets, trade and settlement of RWAs, issuance and intermediation of stablecoins, staking and lending, DeFi connectivity, privacy, and any other issue impacting Fireblocks’ ability or its customer's ability to offer services in North America .
Minimum Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience working on policy issues
  • Experience working on public policy issues in the technology industry, in particular as an advisor and partner to business teams in product development, go-to-market, and other business areas.
  • Experience working with or for regulated industries, business strategy consultancies, or the technology industry.
  • Experience working with international teams and a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to lead and evaluate issues independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent personal, political, analytical, and communications skills and high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable product experience would be considered a positive differentiator
  • Demonstrable digital identity experience would be considered a positive differentiator

For employees hired to work remotely from New York, or from our NYC HQ, Fireblocks is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range is specific to New York City and takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are reviewed when making a hiring decision, such as years of experience, skills, and other business needs.

It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and each compensation decision is dependent on each individual case. A reasonable base salary range estimate for this position is $175,000 - $240,000. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which for some roles may include a target bonus, a very competitive equity grant, and very generous benefits.

While we believe competitive compensation is a critical aspect of your decision to join us, we do hope you also spend time considering why our mission and culture are right for you. We are creating something transformational here, and we hope you are as excited about the future as we are.

Fireblocks' mission is to enable every business to easily and securely access digital assets and cryptocurrencies. In order to do that, we strongly believe our workforce should be as diverse as our clients, and this is why we embrace diversity and inclusion in all its forms.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
