Job Description:
The Pricing Senior Analyst & Advisor for the Hybrid Cloud Business Unit is a critical role supporting pricing strategy, analytics, and advisory across the entire Hybrid Cloud Business Unit. The role plays a central part in shaping pricing approaches across a broad portfolio of products, solutions, and business models, ensuring alignment with business objectives, market dynamics, and long-term profitability.
This position develops and evaluates pricing analyses, models, and discounting frameworks to optimize revenue, gross margin, deal velocity, and win rates. The Pricing Senior Analyst & Advisor assesses existing portfolio pricing and recommends adjustments to pricing structures, packaging, and discount thresholds to improve competitiveness and value capture while maintaining operational scalability and efficient decision-making.
The role partners cross-functionally with product management, sales, finance, and the corporate pricing teams to support pricing for new offers and evolving business models, including transactional, consumption-based, and as-a-service offerings. The Pricing Senior Analyst & Advisor analyzes competitive pricing inputs, market trends, and performance data to inform pricing strategy and provide clear, data-driven recommendations to product leaders, senior leadership, and the Hybrid Cloud Business Unit’s Pricing Council.
Operating within established governance frameworks, this role influences pricing outcomes through rigorous analysis, insight, and advisory leadership rather than direct approval authority. Success is measured by improved pricing quality and consistency, faster and more effective pricing decisions, improved win rates, and sustained revenue and margin performance across the Hybrid Cloud portfolio.
The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of experience in pricing enterprise IT offers and solutions, with deep exposure to complex, multi-model technology portfolios. They will have a strong track record analyzing and advising on pricing for enterprise data storage, data infrastructure, and private cloud solutions, as well as experience across transactional (CapEx), consumption-based, and as-a-service business models. The candidate should be highly analytical, commercially savvy, and comfortable operating at the intersection of product, finance, and sales—translating data into clear pricing insights while influencing senior stakeholders and governance bodies without direct authority.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior pricing analyst and advisor for the Hybrid Cloud Business Unit across all products, solutions, and business models.
- Define, analyze, and evolve pricing frameworks to optimize revenue, margin, win rates, and long-term value capture.
- Evaluate existing portfolio pricing and recommend adjustments to list pricing, packaging, discount thresholds, and offer structures.
- Partner with product teams to establish pricing for new products, services, and business models, including CapEx, consumption, and as-a-service offerings.
- Analyze pricing workflows and approval structures to maintain or reduce quote turnaround time and improve deal velocity.
- Develop and recommend sales empowerment models, including discount thresholds, auto-approval limits, and escalation criteria.
- Analyze competitive pricing inputs and translate insights into actionable pricing recommendations.
- Review pricing proposals and provide feedback to improve analytical rigor, clarity, and approval readiness.
- Act as a trusted pricing advisor to product leadership, the Pricing Council, and executive stakeholders.
- Monitor market dynamics and business performance to proactively recommend pricing actions as conditions change.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience in pricing analytics or pricing strategy roles.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and advising on pricing for complex enterprise technology portfolios, including enterprise storage, software, and private cloud solutions.
- Experience supporting multiple business models, including transactional, consumption-based, and as-a-service models.
- Proven ability to influence pricing strategy and outcomes across cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Experience working with senior leadership and executive decision-makers.
- Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s, or Ph.D.) strongly preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Deep understanding of pricing mechanics, discounting structures, deal economics, and gross margin dynamics.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of enterprise sales motions.
- Ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear, executive-level recommendations.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives concurrently.
