About the role

We’re looking for a seasoned technical leader for 200+ engineers across the Core Services Engineering organization. As a Principal Software Architect at ServiceTitan, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our platform. As a key technical leader, you will help define and drive the technical vision and architecture for our software systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

You will work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to design and implement innovative and impactful solutions that transform the way trade businesses operate. You will be responsible for successful delivery of large-scale technical efforts and collaborate with Platform and AI/ML teams. 

What you'll do:

  • Lead the design and architecture of complex systems. 

  • Develop and execute against both short and long-term roadmaps. Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, guiding them on best practices, design patterns, and architectural principles.

  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems with engineering teams. Own the end-to-end lifecycle of software development, from concept to deployment, including architecture design, development, testing, and scaling.

  • Conduct thorough technical evaluations and risk assessments to ensure the long-term viability and scalability of our systems.

  • Align our technical decisions with ServiceTitan's broad strategic initiatives, while also advocating for needs specific to emerging new businesses.

  • Be a strong advocate of proven methods in software engineering and bring a detailed approach to testing, continuous delivery, and reducing technical debt.

  • As a leader within Engineering, assist with organizational growth and development while maintaining a high bar for excellence and technical curiosity.

  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s or MS/Ph.D in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • You have served as the technical leader for a group of 100+ engineers and defined the roadmap for company-impacting projects spanning multiple teams and functions. 

  • 15+ years of proven experience  in designing and implementing large-scale, distributed systems in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Deep expertise in microservices architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud-native technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance execution and velocity with security, reliability and efficiency. 

  • Experience mentoring, and investing in the development of other engineering leaders and engineers. 

  • Strong understanding of data architectures, including databases (relational and NoSQL), data warehousing, and data pipelines.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.

  • A passion for innovation and a desire to continuously learn and grow.

ServiceTitan is committed to fair and equitable compensation for all of our employees. We thoughtfully consider a wide range of factors when determining individual compensation. The expected salary range for this role for candidates residing in the United States is between $269,000 USD - $336,300 USD. Compensation for candidates residing outside the United States will vary by location and the specific salary range will be discussed during the hiring process. Actual compensation for an individual may vary depending on skills, performance over time, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package also includes an annual bonus, equity and a holistic suite of benefits.
