About the role

The Principal Business Operations Manager will play an integral role in executing on the strategic direction of Zillow’s NC business. We’re looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit to tackle a wide variety of challenges facing a high growth business. The core focus of this role will be to own optimization and execution of the organizational roadmap, communicating the story of the New Con business, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and alignment, and to support related planning and goal setting activities. This role will be laser focused on execution of business priorities and effectively prioritizing the organizational roadmap. You will own development and coordination of NewCon’s rhythm of business while monitoring business performance to surface performance insights and opportunities for improvement. This includes governance processes, business continuity planning, owning communication cadences, planning for org wide events (e.g. all-hands), as well as supporting related organizational design and transformation initiatives. This individual must be an exceptional story teller, focused on outcomes, that can quickly identify what’s needed, who to talk to and when, with a strong desire to move quickly and drive results through partnership with cross functional leaders. The role requires someone who is a strategic problem solver, a great communicator and facilitator, an expert program manager, and who is highly self directed. You’ll get substantial senior leadership exposure, focus on the highest-impact initiatives, and be plugged into every facet of the business. 

You’ll get to:

  • Focus every day on translating strategy into action, with a high degree of autonomy and self-direction

  • Partner with leaders to develop and communicate a prioritized roadmap of business initiatives that drive targeted and intentional growth

  • Leverage your communication skills and relationship building skills to guide org priorities and the business’ roadmap

  • Identify, analyze, develop and manage high-impact workstreams, and support cross-functional planning efforts that align to departmental and company-level strategy

  • Drive towards our key organizational success metrics, helping to surface and advance initiatives that move the needle for NC, Zillow, and our customers

  • Facilitate and improve upon our rhythm-of-the-business, a recurring cadence of high-impact forums for NC Leadership to make and cascade decisions, report on business performance and identify key risks & opportunities

  • You will be responsible for driving outcomes from our three year plan, across all teams, and its ultimate successful execution

  • Partner with other leaders to ensure that all voices are accounted for in our planning and envisioning processes, tightly aligned with organizational goals and timelines

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by building and deploying new processes that catalyze effective planning and decision making

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $148,600.00 - $237,400.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably within high-growth startups, SaaS, prop-tech, investment banking and/or management consulting, partnering with leaders across all functional areas

  • 8+ years of experience in sales operations, business process optimization, revenue operations, and/or business operations generally

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated strengths in presentation design and group facilitation, with a strong executive presence

  • The ability to communicate complicated messages at the right level of detail tailored to the needs of that audience (i.e. know what to say to whom and when)

  • Data driven problem solver with very strong proficiency in Excel, fluency with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Domo) and the ability to tell compelling stories with data

  • Strong project and program management skills with experience leading end-to-end execution across all project phases

  • Exceptional ability to influence and align stakeholders in a cross-functional and matrixed setting

  • Hands-on self starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, working with a high degree of autonomy and a bias for action

  • Strong business acumen and First-principles thinker (e.g., ability and desire to question how we are working rather than simply executing)

  • Thrives when encountering ambiguity and uncertainty, with the soft-skills to match

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Liberal arts majors welcome, with relevant experience

Nice to Haves:

  • PMP or similar certification highly desirable

  • MBA or MS in Operations Management preferred

  • Familiarity with digital marketing trends, strategies, tools, and technology

  • Familiarity with the new construction home builders and real estate listing technology generally
