Overview

Microsoft Copilot Studio is seeking a dynamic Principal Design Manager to join our innovative team in shaping the future of conversational AI with a focus on Enterprise Copilot features within the product. In this critical role, you will help lead the design efforts for a product that plays a pivotal role in Microsoft's Copilot initiative, leveraging generative AI to enhance user experiences across various areas of the product.

Responsibilities

Design Leadership:

  • Lead and inspire a team of talented designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
  • Drive the vision for Microsoft Copilot Studio, ensuring alignment with Microsoft Copilot's strategic goals.

Product Vision and Strategy:

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the product strategy, keeping abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Define and communicate a compelling design vision for Microsoft Copilot Studio, aligning it with Microsoft's Copilot overarching objectives.
  • Collaborate and align the continued integration of generative AI into Microsoft Copilot Studio, exploring innovative ways to enhance conversational capabilities and user interactions.

User-Centric Design:

  • Champion user-centered design principles, conducting user research to gain insights and validate design decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to create intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that elevate the overall user experience.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align design strategies with overall product goals.
  • Actively participate in agile development processes, providing design leadership throughout the product lifecycle.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the design team.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, design trends, and emerging technologies, integrating relevant insights into the product design process.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).
  • 3+ years people management experience

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in design leadership roles, with a focus on conversational AI and related technologies.
  • Understanding of generative AI and its application in product design.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality design solutions for complex products.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft's Copilot initiative and a passion for advancing AI technologies.

Product Design M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
