Yahoo is seeking a talented Principal Front-End Engineer with deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and design systems implementation. In this role, you'll build, optimize, and maintain robust, scalable web-based interface components, translating sophisticated Figma designs into elegant, production-ready user interfaces. Your commitment to visual consistency, accessibility, and performance will significantly enhance user experience across our platforms.

Primary Focus:

  • Developing and maintaining high-quality, reusable UI components and front-end systems.

  • Implementing a consistent, visually appealing, and accessible user experience leveraging our core design system.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and refine reusable UI components using React and TypeScript.

  • Accurately translate detailed Figma designs into responsive, production-quality front-end code.

  • Ensure accessibility standards, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility across all UI components and pages.

  • Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and product teams to uphold visual consistency and UX excellence.

  • Proactively identify and resolve front-end performance bottlenecks, optimizing for speed and scalability.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive front-end engineering experience with React.js and TypeScript.

  • Proven ability to translate design specifications (Figma or similar tools) into functional, pixel-perfect front-end implementations.

  • Deep understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG), responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.

  • Experience optimizing front-end performance, including familiarity with techniques for improving load times and rendering efficiency.

  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working closely with design and engineering teams to ensure consistent user experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional expertise in front-end styling, system patterns, tokens, and detailed interaction fidelity.

  • Strong visual design instincts and attention to UI quality, precision, and scalability.

  • Proven ability to systematically approach UI-layer architecture and optimization.

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
