At Redis, you’ll work with the fastest, simplest technology in the business—whether you’re building it, telling its story, or selling it to our 10,000+ worldwide customers. We’re creating a faster world with simpler experiences. You in?

Why would you love this job?

As a Principal Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of Redis’ enterprise identity at scale. You'll lead the design and strategy of IAM solutions that empower secure and seamless access across our organization. This role combines high-impact architecture work, hands-on technical leadership, and strategic influence. You’ll collaborate with administrators, engineering, security, and compliance teams, all while mentoring others and staying at the forefront of identity innovation and threat mitigation.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and lead the implementation of scalable IAM solutions across a multi-cloud environment.
  • Own the architecture and integration of IAM platforms such as Okta, Azure AD, or similar adding structure, rigor, and innovation  to our existing tech stack.
  • Define and drive the IAM roadmap in collaboration with security, engineering, and IT leadership.
  • Implement and optimize identity lifecycle processes, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and access reviews.
  • Integrate modern IAM technologies such as WebAuthN, SSO, MFA, federation, and PAM with enterprise applications and infrastructure.
  • Ensure IAM systems align with Zero Trust principles, regulatory requirements, and company policies, and are resilient in the face of fast-paced identity-based threats
  • Automate identity workflows using scripting languages and APIs.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to engineers and a key advisor to executive stakeholders.
  • Provide expert-level support during audits, risk assessments, and security incidents related to access.

What will you need to have?

  • 8+ years of experience in IAM, security architecture, or related roles.
  • Deep technical expertise with identity platforms like Okta, Azure AD, CyberArk, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of authentication and authorization standards: SAML, OAuth2, OIDC, LDAP, SCIM.
  • Strong understanding of how attackers exploit modern identity technologies and an ability to articulate effective countermeasures and mitigations.
  • Solid experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, REST APIs).
  • Proven success leading complex IAM initiatives from concept to implementation.
  • Understanding of cloud IAM (AWS IAM, Azure RBAC, GCP IAM) and Zero Trust frameworks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Extra great if you have:

  • Experience with open source software
  • Familiarity with ITIL and Agile frameworks
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CIAM, Azure/AWS Security, or equivalent.
  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., SOX, PCI, GDPR).
  • Background in identity governance and compliance tooling.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and infrastructure-as-code for IAM.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
