The Difference You Will Make:

As a Finance Team Member, the Principal, Indirect Tax will have broad exposure to various financial systems and processes and will support critical goals and deadlines. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to confidently support processes within the organization. In addition, the ideal candidate will have online travel application (OTA) experience, a strong understanding of indirect taxes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Global Director of Indirect Tax.

A Typical Day: 

  • Conduct comprehensive research on tax regulations and policies affecting the hotel and hospitality industry, especially the applicability to online travel agents/platforms.
  • Analyze and interpret tax laws to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations related to hotels
  • Prepare and review tax-related documentation and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws
  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and their potential impact on the hotel sector
  • Assist in the development of tax strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives
  • Support the tax team in audits, inquiries, and correspondence with tax authorities

Your Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of indirect taxes such as VAT, GST, Sales Tax and Tourist Tax, particularly those relevant to the hotel industry and online travel agents
  • Experience in tax research, legal analysis, and compliance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts clearly
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Previous experience in the OTA or hospitality industry, preferred
  • Familiarity with hotel financial statements and operations, preferred
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, preferred
  • Membership in a state bar association, preferred

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
