We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a Principal Product Designer with extensive experience in end-to-end product design, user-centered research, strategic design vision, and cross-functional leadership. As a Principal Product Designer, you'll be a key strategic leader on our product team, tackling complex enterprise problems and shaping the future direction of our user experience. This role is about driving product strategy and architectural design excellence. You'll lead end-to-end design initiatives, mentor designers, and partner closely with executive stakeholders, product managers, and engineers to align design vision with long-term business goals. While we have physical locations, we work remote, giving you the flexibility to do your best work from wherever you are.

You Are:

  • A Leader. You independently lead high-impact design initiatives, defining design strategy and setting standards across multiple product areas.
  • Mentor-minded.  You're a coach to other designers, providing constructive feedback and helping to grow the skills of your teammates.
  • Communicative. You can clearly articulate your design decisions, presenting your work and backing up your choices with insights and data. You can speak the language of product, engineering, and business.
  • Simplify the complex: You have a proven track record of breaking down complicated workflows into simple, intuitive user experiences.
  • Strategic. You don't just solve the problem in front of you; you think about the broader system and the long-term impact of your design choices.

You Will:

  • Take ownership of the user experience for a specific product area, from concept to launch.
  • Conduct user research when necessary, including interviews and usability testing, to inform your designs.
  • Create design artifacts that build consensus - wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity mockups.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure your designs are implemented to a high standard.
  • Contribute to and evolve our design system to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Champion a user-centric design culture within the organization.

Who You Will Work With:
Reporting to the Director of Product Design, this role will collaborate regularly with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to ensure user needs and business goals are met.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams on a daily basis.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to design team growth.

Must Haves:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Product Designer, with proven experience in senior or principal leadership roles.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your product design process and demonstrating your ability to solve complex problems on a variety of device types and surfaces.
  • Expertise in design and prototyping tools.
  • Experience designing for B2B or complex enterprise applications is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A strong bias for action, self direction, and a knack for thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience designing for B2B or enterprise applications.
  • Prior experience contributing to or managing design systems.
  • Familiarity with wholesale or automotive marketplaces.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive pay

  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits with employer HSA contributions (US) and FSA options (US)

  • Immediately vested 401K (US) or RRSP (Canada) with company match

  • Paid Vacation, Personal, and Sick Time

  • Paid maternity and paternity leave (US)

  • Employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, and AD&D (US)

  • Robust Employee Assistance Program

  • Employer paid Leap into Service Day to volunteer

  • Tuition Reimbursement for eligible programs

  • Opportunities to expand your skill set and share your knowledge across a publicly traded, global organization

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
