At MCG, we lead the healthcare community to deliver patient-focused care. We have a mission-driven team of talented physicians and technical experts developing our evidence-based content and innovating our products to accelerate improvements in healthcare. If you are driven to enhance the US healthcare system, MCG is eager to have you join our team. We cultivate a work environment that nurtures personal and professional growth, and this is a thrilling time to become a part of our organization. With dynamic roles that offer meaningful impact, you'll be able to fully realize your potential. Plus, you'll enjoy world-class benefits and the security, stability, and resources of our parent company, Hearst, with over 100 years of experience.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Product Engineer to lead delivery for key customer-facing products by partnering with customers to showcase MCG product(s) value. This role is hands-on in both product discovery and software delivery, shaping workflow design with customers while also building, integrating, and verifying the solution so value is measurable in production.

The Principal Product Engineer uses Generative AI to accelerate the path from intent to implementation, including planning, executable documentation, test scenario generation, and rapid iteration, while staying close to the code and integration surfaces where delivery risk lives. They translate ambiguity into small, verifiable slices of work, move quickly through build feedback loops, and ensure correctness through strong validation and practical release discipline.

*** Preferred Candidate for this Role Already Identified ***

You Will:

  • Customer Outcome Partnership: Work closely alongside strategic customers within their actual workflows, identify pain points as they arise, and collaborate on solution design to showcase the value of MCG products
  • Pilot in Production Context: Run hands on pilots inside operational environments, iterate rapidly with stakeholders, and convert validated results into production grade releases
  • Build Fast, Learn Faster: Build functional software early, expose it to real usage, and iterate in tight cycles based on measurable outcomes and stakeholder feedback
  • Agentic Build Acceleration: Use agentic workflows to develop, decompose problems, scaffold implementations, generate tests, and accelerate execution without sacrificing correctness
  • Outcome Ownership: Own customer facing delivery outcomes end to end, developing and driving working software to meet commitments, release dates, SLAs, and measurable business impact
  • Evidence Driven Iteration: Establish baselines, define success metrics, and continuously prove value through data rather than opinion
  • Unblock and Deliver: Remove delivery friction by resolving integration gaps, clarifying ambiguous requirements through prototypes, and tightening feedback loops across teams
  • Prevent Before Release: Identify failure modes early, validate through automated and scenario-based testing, and enforce release gates grounded in evidence
  • From Pilot to Platform: Translate pilot insights into reusable platform capabilities, reference architectures, and repeatable rollout patterns
  • Customer Accountable Execution: Maintain direct accountability to customers and stakeholders, ensuring delivery quality, speed, and business alignment

What We're Looking For:

  •    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred
  •    10+ years of hands-on software development experience
  •    Experience running customer pilots and engaging with strategic stakeholders
  •    Experience using Generative AI or agentic workflows in software delivery
  •    Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and Google)
  •    Experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customer Workflow and Outcome Fluency: Understand customer workflows end to end, identify where MCG solutions and capabilities create measurable value, define clear success metrics such as time to value and reduced manual effort.
  • Validation and Production Readiness Mindset: Design pilots with baseline measurement and outcome validation, establish a definition of done that includes correctness, operability, and support readiness, and manage risk pragmatically while protecting customers without slowing delivery.
  • AI Enabled Build Acceleration: Use Generative AI and agentic workflows to explore implementation options, generate test scenarios, accelerate iteration, treat specifications and documentation as outputs of execution refined through build cycles, and separate repeatable platform capabilities from customer specific adaptations

Pay Range: $159,000 - $222,600

Other compensation: Bonus Eligible

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
