Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

Remitly's vision is to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders. In an era of accelerating data use and evolving regulation, our commitment to trust is anchored in privacy. It's a core tenet of our vision and product philosophy... a necessary driver of our competitive advantage. We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager for Privacy to lead this charge from the heart of our engineering organization where you will report directly to our Global Privacy Director.

This is not a role for a compliance officer or a project manager. This is a strategic position for an experienced technologist who solves complex, ambiguous problems at massive scale. You will operate at the intersection of technology, law, and business strategy, translating abstract regulatory requirements into concrete, scalable, and elegant engineering solutions. You will be empowered to define vision, implement platforms, and drive programs to safeguard our users' data. If you relish taming ambiguity, excel at influencing without authority, and want to build foundational systems that define the future of privacy at Remitly, come join us.

You Will:

  • Define and manage a multi-year roadmap for our core Privacy programs, aligning them with company-wide goals and a global regulatory landscape.
  • Operate with independence in ambiguous and undefined problem spaces, creating clarity, defining program tenets, and influencing resource allocation to achieve strategic goals.
  • Present program strategy, status, and data-driven insights to senior and executive leadership, framing complex technical and legal issues to facilitate high-judgment decision-making.
  • Lead delivery of large-scale privacy platforms, including systems for consent management, data subject rights automation, data discovery and classification, and data deletion.
  • Be the primary technical liaison and translator between Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Product, and Security teams, building a shared understanding of requirements, capabilities, and risks.
  • Perform analytical deep-dives using data to analyze and optimize product performance.
  • Build relationships and champion agreement among partners with diverse perspectives to align Remitly around the privacy vision.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and dependencies to all levels of the organization, from individual engineers to C-level executives

You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Software Engineering, or a related technical leadership role, with experience delivering large-scale systems in production environments,
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience,
  • Expert-level understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile/lean methodologies, system design principles (web/mobile apps and APIs), service-oriented architecture, modern cloud infrastructure (AWS EC2, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, and SNS), and CI/CD tools,
  • SQL experience and ability to write basic queries.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $175,000-$220,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan. Your recruiter can share more information about medical benefits offered, as well as other financial benefits and total compensation components offered with this role.

Our Benefits:

  • Flexible paid time off
  • Health, dental, and vision + 401k plan with company matching
  • Paid parental, medical, military and family care leave

  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
