✨ A note before you apply

We’re hiring 2 Product Design Interns for 2025 – 2026! This is a full-time 3 - 9 month internship where you’ll work closely with full-time creatives on real world projects that shape how users experience Clerkie.

This listing represents multiple openings on our Product Design team and for the right candidates our goal is to convert this internship into a full time position at the end of the program.

About Clerkie

Clerkie is a fintech startup on a mission to democratize financial wellness using the power of artificial intelligence. Launched in 2018, Clerkie began with an app, aiming to help the nearly 123 million underserved Americans in need of financial guidance. Since its inception, the company has expanded its services and now pairs consumer guidance with cutting-edge B2B software. By pairing the two through the Clerkie network, these tools have become the go-to resource for creditors looking to manage loan losses while simultaneously helping millions of borrowers get out of debt.

Clerkie is a remote-first company, with over 30 employees spanning 4 time zones across the United States. To date, the company has raised $41 million, including a $33 million Series A round in early 2023. Investors include leading financial and venture institutions, including Citi Ventures, Left Lane Capital, Wellington Ventures, Flourish Ventures, and Vestigo Ventures.

About the role

We’re hiring a Designer to join our growing Design team, with an immediate focus on supporting brand, marketing, and sales design needs, and longterm growth into the world of Product Design. This role is perfect for a creative who lives and breathes design - someone with a great eye, a strong portfolio, and a passion for making things look (and feel) great.

You’ll report into our Sr Product Designer, with dotted-line mentorship working elbow-to-elbow with our Product Designer. In this role, you’ll wear many design hats (and look amazing in them too!) - branding, marketing, creative, visual storytelling, maybe even a smidge of UX - so we’re looking for someone excited to learn, collaborate, and stretch their design muscles in new ways.

This role will start as an intern and after 9 months (or sooner) the goal is to convert to a full time employee. This is an ideal fit for someone earlier in their career (maybe your first or second design role!) who’s hungry to grow, contribute, and evolve into a well-rounded Product Designer down the road.

Here’s what you’ll do
  • Design compelling brand assets that support marketing, sales, and partnerships including pitch decks, landing pages, collateral, and campaign visuals
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, GTM, and Engineering to ensure visual alignment across our external and internal experiences
  • Support and evolve Clerkie’s visual identity and brand system
  • Contribute to product and UX work—especially across web and mobile design—as you grow in your role
  • Bring fresh ideas, thoughtful feedback, and big impact to our small but mighty design team
Here’s a snapshot of what the design team tackled last month
  • Design custom assets and environments for prospective clients - partnering with Product and Eng to create some super slick sandbox demos that help us win big deals
  • Contribute to high priority builds for enterprise partners, bringing your eye for design to fast-moving, high-impact projects
  • Collaborate directly with our SLT on a fresh look and feel for our multiple product’s on-site experiences
  • Add your voice to our evolving brand bible, shaping how Clerkie and Fiber show up across every touchpoint
  • Help clean up and organize Coda, our internal knowledge hub, to make life easier for future new hires (like you!)
  • Mock up new Clerkie + Fiber stickers (we take sticker culture seriously around here)
  • Jam with People & Culture on new swag ideas
  • Spend the day on a private yacht in the Bahamas (yep), swimming with pigs, paddleboarding, jet skiing, and joining our team hackathon on a private island
  • And more! From big wins to team traditions, it’s been a month and we’re just getting started
Must-haves
  • A strong portfolio that showcases your design thinking and visual design skills, especially across brand, visual, or marketing design work
  • Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • A collaborative, curious mindset and a desire to learn product and UX design
  • An eye for detail and a love for great aesthetics
  • The ability to communicate your ideas clearly and thoughtfully
  • Coachability, adaptability, a growth mindset, and an eagerness to learn
  • Solid grasp of core visual-design fundamentals: typography, layout, color, and visual hierarchy
Nice-to-haves (not required)
  • Appetite and / or experience designing for digital products or UX
  • Exposure to design thinking principles or cross-functional product teams
  • Prior experience at a startup or in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic knowledge of responsive web or mobile design
  • Familiarity with marketing tools or CMS platforms
  • Exposure to 3D tools like Cinema 4D
Salary range

💰 $60,000 – $80,000

Our benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) & retirement benefits
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Annual company retreat
  • Company laptop and remote work setup
  • Collaborative, remote-first culture that’s values-driven and people-first
Our hiring process

We believe in a two-way interview process that helps us get to know you and helps you get to know us.

  1. Application + Portfolio Review (async)
  2. Intro Call w/ Head of People (20 – 30 min via Google Meet)
  3. Portfolio Deep Dive  w/ Sr. Product Designer (45 min via Google Meet)
  4. Design Challenge Review (async + 45 min design challenge review via Google Meet with Product Design Team)
  5. Final Leadership Meeting w/ an Executive (30 – 45 min via Google Meet)

Before we extend any offers, all candidates must successfully complete a standard background check in addition to a reference check. These checks are conducted in tandem to ensure a safe, secure, and compliant environment for all Clerkie team members and stakeholders. We approach this stage with transparency and sensitivity, and candidates will be provided with clear information about the process.

Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
