Summary 

Are you a systems-minded Product Designer who loves turning complexity into clarity especially when designing for mobile and web at scale? As a Product Designer, Design Systems (Mobile) at Topstep, you’ll shape the foundational frameworks that power our trader experiences across iOS, Android, and web. You’ll help to establish our first Design System, evolve our design language, create cohesive interaction patterns, and build the connective tissue that unites craft, consistency, and speed across teams. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and design peers to define scalable systems that accelerate product delivery and raise quality across every touchpoint. This is a role for a designer who thrives at the intersection of hands-on execution, systems architecture, and product strategy and who’s passionate about building native mobile experiences that feel as seamless as they are powerful.

Your impact will extend beyond pixels you’ll influence how we design, build, and scale our ecosystem for years to come.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own and evolve Topstep’s design system. From tokens and components to patterns and documentation, ensuring it supports web and native mobile platforms
  • Design, prototype, and document reusable UI components and interaction patterns that drive visual consistency and accelerate design-to-dev collaboration
  • Advise and guide the Product Design team on mobile best practices, contributing to the realization of Topstep's mobile ambitions
  • Partner with mobile engineering (iOS + Android) to define implementation standards, bridge Figma, code parity, and ensure pixel-perfect execution in production
  • Collaborate with product and platform teams to identify emerging needs, define system updates, and prioritize efforts that scale across products
  • Establish cross-platform coherence, ensuring our design system flexes gracefully between responsive web and native mobile paradigms
  • Define and maintain design tokens, accessibility standards, and motion principles that adapt to various device environments and OS guidelines
  • Champion design quality and craft, mentoring peers on mobile UX patterns, platform conventions, and how to apply systems thinking in daily work
  • Contribute to vision work, frameworks, and principles that guide the future of Topstep’s multi-product ecosystem

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies

  • Must have 2-3 years of experience designing end-to-end customer facing financial workflows across desktop (the ideal candidate also have mobile design experience.)
  • Must be able to demonstrate shipped experiences that leverage usability studies to help inform and validate the user experience.
  • 8+ years minimum of experience in Product Design
  • 3+ years dedicated to designing systems 
  • 3+ years dedicated to mobile native 
  • Track record of leading large-scale design initiatives from exploration through delivery
  • Proven expertise designing and shipping native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android) at scale
  • Experience collaborating with engineers to implement and maintain design tokens, component libraries, and front-end architecture.
  • Mastery of Figma, including component variants, auto layout, variables, and design token integration workflows.
  • Strong systems thinking able to connect patterns, define reusable frameworks, and simplify complex flows
  • Excellent visual design and interaction craft, paired with a deep sense of usability and accessibility best practices
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills, able to advocate for system-level decisions across design, product, and engineering leadership
  • Passion for building at scale: you see systems as a multiplier for creativity, quality, and velocity

New Hire Base Salary Range

  • $190,000-$210,000
  • Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
  • The compensation offered will take into account internal compensation structure and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
