The Role

Adaptable intelligence depends upon reimagining the ways in which we interact with AI. Design is a crucial part of this.

What you design will empower users to shape AI to fit their needs in interesting and innovative ways. As a Product Designer, you’ll bridge the gap between design vision and technical implementation. You’ll collaborate closely with a tight knit design team, researchers and engineers to prototype and ship interfaces and features that challenge conventions in product design.

This position is as much about UI as it is about UX. A very big part of the role will be UI craft.

Responsibilities
  • Lead visual design and product direction: rapidly design, refine, and ship interfaces that are not only functional, but differentiated and impactful.

  • Collaborate across disciplines: partner closely with researchers, and engineers to explore innovative interactions. Use experimentation, prototyping, and iteration to uncover new possibilities for how people engage with our products and AI as a whole.

  • Own end-to-end impact. You won’t simply implement specifications passed down from others. Instead, you’ll actively shape what gets built, contributing to design decisions, influencing user experience, and driving execution from concept through launch.

  • Define the future of human–AI interaction: Take on the challenge of inventing new interaction paradigms that go beyond today’s conventions. Your work will help redefine how people use AI systems in ways that feel intuitive and natural.

Qualifications
  • Strong portfolio showcasing UX, UI, and interaction design skills.

  • Have 4+ years as a product designer.

  • Solid understanding of design principles, typography, layout, and motion

  • Experience working across the design–engineering boundary (building prototypes, implementing design systems, or similar)

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex ideas clearly

  • Get excited about working on frontier AI products and deciding how they look and behave

  • Interested in working within extremely fast-paced environments with high ownership

Above all, we're looking for great teammates who make work feel lighter and aren't afraid to go out on a limb with bold ideas. You don't need to be perfect, but you do need to be adaptable. We encourage you to apply, even if you don't check every box.

About Us

Most AI is frozen in place - it doesn't adapt to the world. We think that's backwards. Our mandate is to build efficient intelligence that evolves in real-time. Our vision is AI systems that are flexible, personalized, and accessible to everyone. We believe efficiency is what makes this possible - it's how we expand access and ensure innovation benefits the many, not the few. We believe in talent density: bringing together the best and most driven individuals to push the boundaries of continual adaptation. We're looking for builders and creative thinkers ready to shape the next era of intelligence.

Benefits
  • Flexible work: In-person collaboration in the Bay Area, a distributed global-first team, and team offsites.

  • Adaption Passport: Annual travel stipend to explore a country you've never visited. We're building intelligence that evolves alongside you, so we encourage you to keep expanding your horizons.

  • Lunch Stipend: Weekly meal allowance for take-out or grocery delivery.

  • Well-Being: Comprehensive medical benefits and generous paid time off.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
