Humanly builds AI-native hiring software that turns recruiting from a reactive scramble into a predictable system. Built for hourly, frontline, and high-volume hiring, we don't just give teams tools — we deliver pre-vetted, ready-to-hire candidates on demand. Our AI conducts over 9,000 interviews a day for more than 120 customers, including Microsoft, Domino's, MGM Resorts, and Massage Envy.
We recently closed a $25M Series B, and we're using it to accelerate what's already working: expanding the platform, growing the team, and deepening our reach with the companies who rely on us. Headquartered in Bellevue, WA with a team that spans the globe, we're at the stage where the foundation is built, the momentum is real, and the ceiling is wherever we decide to put it.
We call ourselves Human Beans. We take ownership, move fast, and care about doing the right thing — for our customers, for candidates, and for each other. AI is core to what we build, and we're intentionally building a workplace where it's embedded in how we work too. We know the future is changing, and we're changing with it. If that's the kind of place where you do your best work, we'd love to meet you.
The RoleWe're looking for a high-impact product designer to be the design voice at Humanly. You'll be the sole designer on the team — owning the full design experience end-to-end, from conversational AI and candidate-facing workflows to the B2B tools hiring teams rely on every day. That means you're not inheriting a playbook; you're writing it. You'll set the design standard, build the practice, and have a direct line to the VP of Product to shape how design influences the product.
There's a strong foundation to build from, but this role is for someone who sees that as a starting point, not a ceiling: someone with genuine curiosity about where AI belongs in product design, a developing point of view on how to get there, and the autonomy to run with it. If you want to lay the groundwork for how design scales at an AI-native company, this is the seat.
This is a hybrid position (Tuesday–Thursday) based out of our Bellevue office, reporting directly to the VP of Product.
What You'll DoOwn the end-to-end product design cycle — from discovery and research through polished UI, prototypes, and dev hand-off.
Lead AI-forward design — bring strong opinions on how AI should and shouldn't be used, both in the products we build and in how the design process itself runs; help define what great AI looks like in conversational workflows, agent interactions, and candidate-facing experiences.
Maintain & evolve the design system — keep our component libraries healthy and growing; establish consistent patterns across an expanding product surface so every touchpoint — hiring tools, candidate experiences, employer branding — speaks the same visual language.
Partner deeply with PM & Engineering — join weekly sprint planning, shape problem statements, and ship features that balance user value with technical constraints.
Champion understanding users — plan and conduct interviews, usability testing, and rapid feedback loops; turn insights into actionable design improvements.
Advance visual + interaction quality — raise the bar on typography, motion, accessibility, and micro-interactions across web and mobile experiences.
Set the design standard — establish core product principles and a design discipline that functions as a filter for every new feature; hold product and engineering to those standards, push back when the bar isn't being met, and don't wait for work to come to you — go find the next design opportunity.
Own your metrics — define success with the teams you partner with and then watch it: candidate engagement rates, conversion through the hiring funnel, candidate experience ratings (we target 4.5+), and design throughput. Use what you see in the data to drive product recommendations — don't just ship and move on.
5+ years designing digital products end-to-end, ideally in early-stage or high-growth startups.
Fluency and discipline in Figma (components, variables, auto-layout, dev-mode) plus prototyping tools of your choice (e.g., Framer, v0, Cursor, Lovable).
Comfort with lean research: moderated tests, unmoderated studies, and quick surveys.
Solid understanding of React/HTML/CSS fundamentals; ability to speak dev's language and spot feasibility issues.
Systems thinker who can understand the architecture of our current products and how it does or should impact the industry.
Excellent communication and over-communication: you can defend design decisions with data, empathy, and concise storytelling.
Proactive ownership: you don't wait for a backlog to tell you what to work on — you insert yourself into the process, uncover product opportunities, and hold product and engineering to the design standard you've set.
Genuine curiosity about AI in design: you're actively exploring how AI changes both what we build and how we build it; you have a developing point of view on what great AI looks like in a product, and you're already experimenting with AI tools in your own workflow.
Bonus: experience unifying design systems across multiple products or acquisitions; background in both B2B SaaS and B2C consumer products; exposure to conversational AI, chatbot, or agent-based product design.
