Shape the Future on Autopilot

At Autopilot, you won’t just design screens – you’ll design how fintech works. As a Product Designer, you’ll own product experiences end-to-end and help redefine what great UX means in a complex, data-driven industry.

We’re building a high-performance, AI-native Fintech Operating System designed to optimize cost and revenue for digital businesses. Join us on a multi-year mission to build smarter infrastructure for commerce.

Why Join Us?

You’ll help build an ambitious product from the ground up, with a team that values speed, craft, and autonomy. If you’re ready to make an outsized impact in fintech, we’d love to meet you.

About the Role

You'll join a fast-moving team building modern, data-intensive web applications that help digital businesses operate more intelligently. This is a founding design role with strong emphasis on product logic, systems thinking, and end-to-end collaboration with engineers.

🛠️ What You'll Do
  • Translate complex financial logic and backend systems into intuitive user flows

  • Design dashboards, workflows, and visual systems for payments, orchestration, and automation

  • Build and maintain our scalable design system in Figma (aligned with React components)

  • Collaborate with engineers on real-world UX states — success, failure, pending, retry

  • Prototype and validate features with real data and user context

  • Participate in product discussions, shaping user journeys before pixels are drawn

  • Uphold usability and domain accuracy as the standard for design quality

🎯 What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience designing digital products with complex logic (fintech, B2B SaaS, or data-heavy systems preferred)

  • Strong product and systems thinking — you design for states and workflows, not just screens

  • Deep Figma expertise (Auto Layout, Variants, Tokens, Components)

  • Ability to translate backend logic, APIs, and data models into coherent user experiences

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills (Linear, Figma, Slack)

  • Comfortable working directly with engineers and iterating quickly without handoffs

🌟 Bonus Points
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or compliance-related products

  • Exposure to analytics or developer tooling

  • Understanding of design-to-code workflows (React component parity, tokens)

  • Strong interaction or motion design craft (Framer, ProtoPie, etc.)

Our Hiring Process

We focus on real-world collaboration, not design showreels. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Apply with LinkedIn Profile And Resume

We’ll review based on the requirements above. If shortlisted, you’ll receive an email to schedule a 90-minute live design collaboration session once you’re comfortable with our pre-interview brief.

  2. 90-Minute Live Design Collaboration

You’ll work with our product and engineering team on a small feature challenge — from user problem to Figma prototype.

    We’ll look at:

    • How you think through logic and flows

    • How you translate constraints into UX decisions

    • Your interaction, hierarchy, and state management

    • How you communicate trade-offs and rationale

The session mirrors our actual workflow:

    • accessible

    • pragmatic

    • collaborative

  3. Design Review & Feedback

After the session, we’ll walk through your design decisions together. You’ll get feedback from our CTO and team, and discuss potential improvements or extensions to your solution.

  4. Culture & Alignment Chat

A final call with CEO to discuss your long-term goals, how you work best, and whether Autopilot is the right fit for both sides.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
