About the Role
Join Nordstrom's POS+ transformation team as a Product Manager 2, where you'll play a critical role in both sustaining our current customer transaction experience and building the future of retail technology. This role offers a unique opportunity to balance operational excellence with strategic innovation—maintaining system compliance while driving next-generation platform capabilities that will power Nordstrom's in-store experience through 2026 and beyond.
What You'll Do
Platform Innovation & Strategic Development (75%)
Offline Capabilities & Android Migration
- Lead product development for offline transaction capabilities on Android platforms, enabling seamless customer experiences regardless of connectivity
- Define software requirements for new hardware rollout in 2026
- Partner with engineering to ensure robust data synchronization and conflict resolution strategies
Payment Terminal Integration
- Drive integration strategy for new payment terminal technologies
- Ensure compliance with payment industry standards (PCI-DSS) while improving customer and associate experiences
Customer-Facing Display Framework
- Build the foundational framework to connect transaction data to customer-facing displays at the POS
- Define data models and API specifications that enable rich customer engagement during checkout
- Collaborate with UX and engineering to create flexible, scalable solutions for future display innovations
Legacy System Stewardship (25%)
Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain system compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Proactively identify and address technical debt that could impact business operations
- Partner with Legal, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure seamless updates
Request Evaluation & Prioritization
- Critically evaluate all incoming requests for new functionality on legacy systems
- Assess business value against cost and risk, making clear trade-off recommendations
- Communicate decisions effectively to stakeholders, guiding them toward POS+ solutions when appropriate

- Evangelizes the product and influences strategic roadmap decisions within the POS domain and with key stakeholders
- Takes an active role in coordinating collaborative efforts for product delivery across engineering, UX, and business partners
- Builds strong cross-functional relationships rooted in deep understanding of customer needs
Continuous Discovery and Insights
- Uses data-backed insights to influence stakeholders and align organizational efforts with customer needs
- Translates insights into opportunities, strategically aligning customer needs with business objectives
Definition and Decomposition
- Understands boundaries and role of products within the broader POS+ ecosystem, redefining as needed
- Breaks down roadmaps into releasable features, owning prioritization and sequencing to support strategic goals
- Writes complete user stories and acceptance criteria within the product area
- Works with engineering and business to optimize between customer value and technical effort/complexity/risk
- Designs measurement plans and exercises a "test and learn" mentality, adjusting products based on learnings
Drives Impact
- Drives progress against deliverables, engaging leadership to manage risks and dependencies to achieve outcomes
- Determines testing strategy and acceptance criteria requirements
- Engages cross-functionally to ensure incidents are appropriately triaged and addressed, communicating impacts across the business
- Integrates repeatable measurement into data-driven decision making to drive roadmap adjustments based on learnings
Prioritization and Planning
- Prioritizes product roadmap to optimize impact and balance deliverables with multiple stakeholders
- Prioritizes feature backlog, accounting for complexity, impact, and cohesion with organizational strategy
- Develops feature timeline and sequencing plans considering technical and operational constraints
- Frames tradeoff decisions about which features or backlog items to deliver
- Leads or escalates discussions to resolve disagreements and provides critical facts to gain alignment
Strategy and Vision
- Contributes to product vision, articulating product purpose and ensuring alignment to POS+ strategic vision
- Articulates the product's value proposition and evangelizes vision with squad and key stakeholders
- Shapes the approach to deliver to the product vision, developing short-term plans to impact success metrics
- Drives alignment on strategy with the squad and key stakeholders
Domain Experience (Preferred)
- 3-5 years of product management experience, preferably in retail technology, payments, or platform services
- Understanding of payment systems, compliance requirements (PCI-DSS), and industry standards
- Familiarity with mobile platforms (Android preferred) and offline-first application patterns
- Comfort working with APIs, data integration patterns, and platform architectures
