You will collaborate cross-functionally with BI, engineering, and product teams to build tools and systems that maximize the value of our data for internal teams and external advertisers. This role is pivotal in shaping how we leverage data for ad targeting, reporting, tracking, and attribution while ensuring compliance with evolving privacy standards.

Responsibilities

Data Management Platform (DMP):

  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure the DMP is scalable, efficient, and compliant with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).

Advertiser Reporting & APIs:

  • Define requirements and collaborate with engineering on building APIs for programmatic reporting access.

Internal Dashboards & Reports:

  • Partner with the BI team to design and enhance dashboards and reports for internal teams, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify KPIs and ensure they are tracked accurately across systems.

User Profile Enrichment:

  • Work with the news app team to integrate behavioral and contextual data into user profiles, enhancing ad targeting and personalization capabilities.
  • Develop strategies to align user insights with ad platform objectives.

Tracking & Attribution:

  • Oversee tracking methodologies, ensuring robust multi-channel and multi-device tracking.
  • Drive improvements in attribution models (e.g., multi-touch, last-click) to deliver actionable insights for advertisers.

Compliance & Privacy:

  • Ensure all data initiatives comply with industry standards and privacy regulations, advocating for ethical data use across the organization.
Requirements

Experience:

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in ad tech or data-driven products.
  • Proven track record of delivering data products like DMPs, analytics dashboards, or reporting tools.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of analytics platforms like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI. Fluent in SQL.
  • Basic knowledge of APIs, ETL processes, and data pipelines.

Domain Expertise:

  • Experience with ad targeting, campaign analytics, and attribution methodologies.
  • Familiarity with DMPs, CDPs, and tracking technologies (e.g., pixels, SDKs).
  • Deep understanding of privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on data strategy.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Collaborative mindset, with experience working cross-functionally with BI, engineering, sales, and legal teams.

Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
