Your Role

Alpaca's product team is looking for a Product Manager to own Alpaca's regulated crypto trading and yield surface: spot or perps exchange, fiat and stablecoin funding rails, staking / lending and the crypto API that partners build on.

You will partner deeply with engineering, compliance, legal, partnerships, and the broader Alpaca product team to ship regulated crypto infrastructure at scale. You will help shape and grow the crypto product itself, and you will be expected to provide early signal on US policy changes rather than react after rules formalize.

Things You Get To Do:

  • Own the spot crypto exchange product surface - pair coverage, order types, availability in various jurisdictions and the partner facing experience for trading crypto on Alpaca.
  • Lead integrations that unlock funding and liquidity with LPs and custodians. Own the stablecoin funding flow, including paths for USDC and other regulated / GENIUS-aligned stables.
  • Work with partners to understand crypto needs for fintechs, neobrokers, and institutional platforms. Expand supported networks and coins that balances partner demand and custody readiness.
  • Drive staking and lending / earn product design within regulatory and ops constraints.
  • Shape a crypto API surface that treats developers and agents as primary customers: SDKs, reference integrations, changelog discipline.
  • Lead and execute the product case for crypto perps.

Who You Are (Must Haves):

  • Excited about what Alpaca is building and ready to own a core regulated crypto product surface.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, finance, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Engineering, and/or starting a startup, preferably within crypto exchanges, brokerage, market making, custody, or financial infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated depth on at least one core crypto product surface at production scale: spot trading / exchange, custody / wallets, fiat or stablecoin funding rails, staking / earn or derivatives / perps.
  • Strong understanding of crypto market structure - order books, liquidity providers, spreads, slippage, settlement, and how B2B / API-first platforms differ from retail-only exchanges.
  • Experience shipping in a regulated environment alongside Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Operations - comfortable with ambiguity and real-time tradeoffs.
  • Proven ability to run partner / customer discovery and turn it into a prioritized roadmap; excellent written and verbal communication across engineering and executive audiences.
  • Business acumen to weigh ROI, partner demand, regulatory risk, tech feasibility, time, and budget.
  • AI-native PM workflow; AI is part of your daily stack in getting work done.

Who You Might Be (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Direct experience at a crypto exchange, broker-dealer, custodian, market maker, or institutional crypto infrastructure provider.
  • Experience building developer-facing crypto APIs used by quants, algo traders, or automated / agentic systems.
  • Familiarity with staking, lending / earn, perpetual futures, and the operational and regulatory constraints of offering them through a licensed entity.
  • Background combining regulated financial-product context (broker-dealer, payments, custody) with crypto native infrastructure (wallets, L1/L2, on-chain settlement).
How We Take Care of You:
  • Competitive Salary & Stock Options
  • Health Benefits
  • New Hire Home-Office Setup: One-time USD $500
  • Monthly Stipend: USD $150 per month via a Brex Card

Alpaca is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace dedicated to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
