Job Description: Product Manager II

Role Summary

F5 Digital is building the enterprise AI muscle that will power the next generation of intelligent, secure, and scalable internal platforms. We are seeking an AI Product Manager II to own our AI model ecosystem, token economy, and core agentic platform enablement.

This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of our LLM stack, developer-facing AI resources, and token economics. Beyond managing costs and access, this PM will actively support F5’s agentic transformation, building the tools, documentation, and developer experience that make it seamless for engineering teams to build secure and scalable AI agents.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, technically curious, and passionate about the rapidly evolving LLM and agentic software frameworks, combining product execution with a strong focus on developer enablement and platform economics.

Key Responsibilities:

Model Ecosystem Management

  • Own the lifecycle of AI models within F5, evaluating, onboarding, and managing access to the latest foundational models (e.g., Gemini, OpenAI, open-source models).

  • Partner with platform engineering to ensure seamless, secure, and observable model integration into our developer environments.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the evolving LLM landscape to guide internal development teams toward the right architectures and models.

Agentic Transformation & Developer Enablement

  • Serve as the product owner for developer-facing tooling, SDKs, and APIs that facilitate agentic AI development.

  • Support teams across F5 in transitioning from simple prompt-engineering to complex, multi-agent workflows and systems.

  • Create and curate high-quality developer resources, sample code, and onboarding paths to accelerate internal agent deployment.

Token Economics & Platform Efficiency

  • Own the enterprise token economy: track usage patterns, forecast capacity, and develop optimized pricing and chargeback models.

  • Define and track key platform metrics, including model latency, token efficiency, usage anomalies, and cost-per-query.

  • Partner with Finance and Cloud FinOps to manage and project enterprise AI spend while scaling capacity.

Governance & Responsible AI

  • Ensure model access and agent integrations adhere to strict corporate security, privacy, and data governance policies.

  • Implement guardrails, logging patterns, and cost controls to reduce model risk and mitigate shadow AI across developer groups.

Product Ownership & Execution

  • Manage and prioritize the backlog for model hosting, API routing, token metrics, and developer enablement tools.

  • Lead Agile sprints and collaborate closely with systems, platform, and security engineers.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of Product Management experience delivering developer platforms, APIs, SaaS, or technical infrastructure.

  • Strong working knowledge of generative AI fundamentals (LLMs, API integrations, context windows, token consumption, and model routing).

  • Familiarity with agentic concepts (e.g., tool-calling, agent frameworks, MCP, orchestrators) and a desire to help developers build agents.

  • Highly analytical with experience monitoring technical metrics, usage data, cloud spend, or subscription economics.

  • Excellent technical communication skills, with the ability to build trust with engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with developer platforms, technical documentation, or internal developer relations (DevRel).

  • Understanding of cloud governance, FinOps, or managing usage costs for API platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with AI development orchestration tools (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex) or secure hosting platforms (Gemini, Azure AI, AWS Bedrock).

What Success Looks Like
  • Maintain a streamlined, secure model-onboarding pipeline that keeps F5 at the absolute forefront of AI technology.

  • Build an intuitive developer experience that reduces the time-to-first-agent for internal engineering teams.

  • Establish a completely transparent, observable, and cost-effective token-tracking model.

  • Mitigate security and cost risk by migrating developers away from unmanaged third-party APIs to the secure, internal ecosystem.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
