Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

We’re looking for a program manager to join our Strategy and Planning team. This team is responsible for governance, risk and compliance (GRC) within ESTO, data and analytics, continuous process improvement, and driving key organizational mechanisms, including the PMO.

In this role, you will lead special projects focused on closing operational gaps within Enterprise Applications and IT Operations (ESTO) and strengthening collaboration between ESTO and other Coinbase business units. You’ll help advance critical GRC initiatives that support Coinbase’s goal of becoming the most trusted company in crypto, while also driving operational excellence across ESTO.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Manager, Strategy and Planning and senior leaders across ESTO, while also collaborating cross-functionally with teams in security, legal, finance, and business technology.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Lead and drive GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) projects to support ESTO’s compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Manage special projects focused on closing operational gaps and improving processes within Enterprise Applications & IT Operations (ESTO).
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with key stakeholders across Security, Legal, Finance, and Business Technology teams.
  • Develop and implement governance mechanisms, risk tracking tools, and compliance reporting processes.
  • Support audit readiness efforts, ensuring documentation and processes meet internal and external audit standards.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to enhance risk management, compliance posture, and operational efficiency.
  • Create and maintain project plans, roadmaps, and status updates for leadership visibility.
  • Adapt quickly to evolving business needs in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 5+ years of program management experience at a technology company and/or in a technical capacity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous information into clear action plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive alignment and decision-making.
  • Ability to leverage data to inform decisions, identify risks, and make clear, strategic recommendations.
  • Experience managing and delivering global programs across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to haves:

  • Program or project management certifications
  • Prior crypto experience and a demonstrated interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies
  • Advanced understanding of Google apps, JIRA, Looker, SQL

Position ID: P68064

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
