The Project Marketing Specialist plays a pivotal role in the Foundation for California Community Colleges’ Communications and Marketing Services team. This position combines strategic marketing expertise, content development, proactive project management, and strong stakeholder communication to support assigned FoundationCCC program portfolios.

What You’ll Do

This role will primarily support climate action, workforce development, career pathways, and related systemwide initiatives. The Project Marketing Specialist is responsible for building subject-matter fluency within assigned portfolios, assessing project needs, guiding marketing strategy, managing project communication, and ensuring creative and communications work moves forward with clarity, accountability, and alignment.

The Project Marketing Specialist serves as a primary liaison between program partners, Creative Services, external vendors, and internal collaborators. This role ensures project goals, audiences, deliverables, timelines, feedback, and approvals are clearly understood and actively managed from intake through completion. The position supports FoundationCCC’s mission to improve Californians’ lives through economic and social mobility by providing high-quality, audience-centered, and strategically aligned marketing and communications support.

  • Serve as a strategic marketing and communications lead for assigned program portfolios, with a primary focus on climate action, workforce development, career pathways, and related initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Creative Services team and assigned program partners, effectively managing stakeholder relationships, project expectations, and communication flow.
  • Review project intake materials to identify audience needs, strategic goals, messaging gaps, timeline concerns, deliverable requirements, and required creative inputs before work moves into production.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to advance FoundationCCC’s programs, partnerships, and initiatives.
  • Strategize, research, write, edit, and produce compelling content for diverse platforms, including websites, email, social media, advertisements, fact sheets, articles, press releases, reports, video scripts, and campaign materials.
  • Manage digital advertising campaigns across platforms such as Google Ads, LinkedIn, Facebook, and programmatic advertising channels.
  • Utilize analytics to measure marketing effectiveness, optimize campaigns, and inform future strategies.
  • Develop agendas, facilitate strategic meetings, track project milestones, manage budgets, and provide consistent progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project records in Asana, including project status, timelines, dependencies, owners, feedback, approvals, and final deliverables.

Attributes for Success

  • 5 years of experience in integrated marketing communications, project management, content creation, and strategic campaign planning.
  • Familiarity with California Community Colleges or higher education marketing
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and content strategy skills for various media formats.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, deliverables, dependencies, feedback, approvals, and competing priorities across multiple complex projects.
  • Ability to build subject-matter fluency in assigned portfolios and apply that knowledge to marketing strategy, content development, and creative coordination.
  • Proficiency with digital advertising platforms, including Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Facebook Ads, and related campaign management tools.
  • Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, SproutSocial, or similar platforms to assess performance and inform strategy.

Budgeted Annual Salary Pay Range:

$70,000.00 - $75,000.00

Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
