This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers you will be responsible for the hands-on design, development and testing of turbomachinery for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of turbomachinery and rocket engine development and operation. This includes individual contribution and leadership in the entire design cycle of turbomachinery from turbopump layouts to component design of pumps, turbines, shafts, housings, bearings, and seals, to the maturation of these components through development testing and flight operations. You will need to use your turbomachinery knowledge to develop design definition, create engineering specifications, and collaborate in component manufacturing. You’ll be responsible for ensuring component performance and health through testing and design iterations, supporting hardware builds and guiding post-test data reviews. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment is essential.

 Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience with turbomachinery component design, development, testing, and flight support
  • Solid understanding of rotating machinery component design and manufacturing including turbines, impellers, cases, bearings, and seals
  • Experience in data analysis and post-processing to assess component health
  • Knowledge of hardware fabrication and quality control
  • Ability to effectively collaborate on multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 
 Desired:
  • Experience with turbomachinery specific to rocket engine applications
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility
  • Experience with castings, forgings, machined parts and other advanced manufacturing techniques
  • Familiarity with analytical packages ANSYS, COMSOL, Fluent, CFX

 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $96,310.00-$134,833.65
