This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

Description:

As a Propulsion Integration Systems Engineer, you will be an integral part of the team supporting the development and operations of the New Glenn launch vehicle. Your role will focus on the certification and integration of the propulsion systems as part of the New Glenn Propulsion Team. You will leverage your technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to impact our next steps in space.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Utilize Systems Engineering, PLM, and collaboration tools such as DOORS, JIRA, Confluence, Windchill, Creo, JAMA, and SharePoint.
  • Work directly with lead systems engineers and technical program managers to plan and prioritize work assignments supporting government certification efforts.
  • Act as the systems engineering liaison for the project team to the government, supporting verification evidence and action item disposition.
  • Support problem report and root cause investigations and dispositions with the government.
  • Negotiate between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests to optimize the system, ensuring internal and external partners’ needs are represented.
  • Support government certification integration for all New Glenn liquid rocket engines, including BE-4 and BE-3U.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering, Physics, or an equivalent technical field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Fluids Systems, Propulsion, Engines, or Spaceflight Systems.
  • System development/integration experience, preferably with aerospace hardware.
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies.
  • Proficient in conducting system safety reviews and performing Functional Hazard Analysis, Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness and strong problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Travel expected up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Launch vehicle operations and/or system testing experience.
  • Knowledge of launch vehicle design and requirements.
  • Experience with systems engineering principles and processes as they relate to the development of a spacecraft.
  • Experience in reliability, maintainability, and operability analysis and execution.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS Next Gen and JAMA.
  • Experience with launch vehicle government certification / contracts.

 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $96,310.00-$134,833.65

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
