GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

      The Public Relations Specialist will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting public   

      relations and communications efforts that promote the mission, programs, services, and accomplishments of

      Moody Neurorehabilitation Institute. This position will work collaboratively with leadership, clinical

      departments, staff, patients, families, community partners, media representatives, and other stakeholders to

      maintain a positive and consistent public image of the organization.


     The Public Relations Specialist will assist with internal and external communications, media relations,

     community outreach, special events, promotional activities, social media content, written communications,

     and public-facing materials. This position will identify opportunities to increase awareness of Moody Neuro's

     services and impact while ensuring all communications are professional, accurate, appropriate, and  

     consistent with organizational standards.


     The Public Relations Specialist will uphold the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization while

     maintaining strict confidentiality of patient, family, employee, and organizational information in the

     performance of assigned duties.

 

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement public relations and communications strategies that support Moody Neuro's mission, strategic priorities, programs, and services.
  • Collaborate with leadership and department representatives to identify newsworthy events, accomplishments, patient success stories, community partnerships, and other opportunities for positive public exposure.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and industry media representatives.
  • Respond to media inquiries and coordinate interviews, statements, photographs, and other information as directed by organizational leadership.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, organizational announcements, newsletters, articles, presentations, talking points, and other communications.
  • Assist with the development and management of Moody Neuro's social media content and online presence.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to collect accurate information and create engaging content that highlights organizational programs, services, staff, and accomplishments.
  • Ensure public-facing communications are consistent in tone, messaging, branding, and organizational standards.
  • Assist with planning, promoting, and coordinating organizational events, community outreach activities, awareness campaigns, and special events.
  • Represent Moody Neuro at community events, professional meetings, conferences, and other public functions as assigned.
  • Develop relationships with community organizations, business partners, schools, healthcare organizations, professional groups, and other stakeholders to increase awareness of Moody Neuro.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for speaking engagements, community presentations, interviews, sponsorships, partnerships, and other public relations activities.
  • Coordinate photography, video, interviews, and other media activities while ensuring appropriate patient and employee permissions are obtained.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating organizational marketing and communication materials, including brochures, flyers, presentations, newsletters, website content, and other promotional materials.
  • Work with appropriate departments to ensure website and public-facing information remains current and accurate.
  • Monitor public and media coverage involving Moody Neuro and provide relevant updates to leadership.
  • Track public relations, media, community outreach, and communication activities and prepare reports as requested.
  • Assist with crisis and emergency communications as directed by organizational leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure patient information is protected in accordance with organizational policies and applicable privacy requirements.
  • Follow organizational policies and procedures regarding the use of patient names, photographs, videos, testimonials, and other protected information.
  • Maintain a professional and positive image of Moody Neuro in all internal and external communications.
  • Assist with internal employee communications and organizational announcements as assigned.
  • Participate in department and organizational meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional knowledge of current public relations, communications, media, marketing, and social media practices.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

        Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with leadership, employees, patients, families, community partners, media representatives, and members of the public.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to develop clear, engaging, and professional written communications for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of public relations, communications, marketing, media relations, and social media practices.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism when responding to media inquiries or addressing sensitive situations.
  • Ability to represent Moody Neuro positively and professionally in the community.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other commonly used communication and presentation software.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events as required.
  • Current Texas driver's license and ability to travel to organizational and community events as needed.

           LIFTING REQUIREMENTS - individuals in administrative roles are required to lift items independently up to 30  

           pounds. 

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field required.

 

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, media relations, community outreach, or a related field preferred.

Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, rehabilitation, or community-based organizations preferred.

Experience developing written content, press releases, social media content, newsletters, presentations, or other public-facing communications preferred.
