Title:

QA Test Engineer

We are looking for a QA Tester/Test Engineer to assess software quality through manual and automated testing to support the CBM+ (Condition-Based Maintenance Plus) program at NSWC Crane. In this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. If you are also competent in executing test cases and are passionate about quality, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you will ensure that our products, applications, and systems work correctly.

As a member of the CBM+, Systems Engineering & Integration Testing (SEIT) team, the Test Engineer will take direction from the SEIT team lead while being responsible for comprehensive front-end and back-end testing efforts. Currently serving as the sole test engineer on the program, this role will play a critical part in growing and scaling the testing function as the system evolves.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing software and systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and stability.
  • Designing and executing tests to ensure products meet specified requirements and quality standards.
  • Developing test plans, test cases (manual or automated), and test scripts.
    Detecting and documenting defects and inconsistencies in computer programs or software systems.
  • Working with developers to troubleshoot and resolve identified defects.
    Collaborating closely with the DevSecOps Engineer to ensure seamless integration of testing within CI/CD pipelines
  • Supporting automated test deployments
  • Communicating with external stakeholders to collect & maintain standardized test data

Basic Qualifications:

Citizenship & Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. Must be a US Citizen.

Education & Experience (options):

  • BS/BA and 3 years of experience as a Test Engineer or Quality Assurance Tester
  • OR AA/AS and 7 years of experience as a Test Engineer or Quality Assurance Tester. For an AA/AS, experience must include scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or JavaScript for test automation AND knowledge of system-level and integration testing strategies, particularly for distributed architectures.
  • OR High School Diploma and 11 years of experience as a Test Engineer or Quality Assurance Tester. For a high school diploma, experience must include scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or JavaScript for test automation AND knowledge of system-level and integration testing strategies, particularly for distributed architectures.

Technical Expertise:

  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks, mainly Scrum, and regression testing
  • Working knowledge of test management software (e.g., Zephyr), work management software (e.g, Jira), and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, wikis, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred that candidates hold an active or current DoD Secret Clearance.
  • CompTIA Security + Certification is preferred.

Location: It is preferred that candidates reside within 2 hours of Crane, Indiana. Flexible remote workplace setting.

Travel Requirements: Infrequent, up to 25%

Compensation: $81,000-122,000.  The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
