You will be focused on leading the architecture and development of the mobile application — built with React Native — mentoring engineers, and working closely with product and client stakeholders to deliver world-class clinical data capture experiences.

 

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate effective communication with client project stakeholders regarding project status and recommendations.

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of iOS and Android applications using React Native, including native module development where required.

  • Own mobile engineering standards, code review practices, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes for the BX mobile app.

  • Collaborate with backend, data, and QA teams to deliver robust, high-quality features aligned to clinical requirements.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level mobile engineers on the team.

  • Drive performance optimization, accessibility, and reliability improvements across the BX mobile platform.

  • Engage in agile software development including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and estimation.

  • Participate in the Engineering Practice community, supporting CoPs and the growth of technical capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience/expertise in the following areas specified below:

  • Lead and architect React Native applications for iOS and Android in a production environment

  • Develop and maintain native modules for iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin/Java) as needed

  • Manage state with Redux or equivalent libraries and ensure scalable architecture patterns

  • Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and define engineering standards

  • Deliver in agile/scrum environments with a focus on quality and client collaboration

  • Must-Have Skills & Tools:

  • Languages: JavaScript / TypeScript

  • Frameworks: React Native (5+ years), iOS & Android native module experience

  • State Management: Redux, Redux Toolkit, or MobX

  • Tools: Jira, GitHub/Bitbucket, Slack

  • Good to Have Skills:

  • Experience with Expo, Expo EAS, and CI/CD pipelines for mobile (Fastlane, Bitrise, GitHub Actions)

  • Healthcare or regulated-industry software development experience

  • 5+ years professional mobile development experience, 3+ years in a lead or senior role.

  • Proven track record leading engineering teams or projects from architecture to production.

  • Strong communication skills and English proficiency.

Additional Experience Desired

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards for mobile applications (WCAG).

  • Experience with GraphQL or REST API integration in mobile apps.

  • Background in performance profiling and offline-first mobile strategies.

  • Experience working in clinical trials, healthcare IT, or FDA-regulated software environments.
