Fox TV Stations

FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The News Reporter will be responsible for gathering information, broadcasting newscasts, and interviewing guests.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Covers breaking news, daily national and local news, features and other topics as a general assignment reporter in the field or in studio
  • Interacts, both scripted an unscripted, with other members of the Anchor team and invited guests.
  • Produces content and interacts on social media.
  • Remains current on local, national, and international news and issues.
  • Regularly reports and writes packages from the set and in the field.
  • Writes and edits news copy for broadcast and web.
  • Organizes material, determines emphasis, and writes stories in a fair, accurate manner.
  • Gathers and verifies information regarding story through interview, observation, and research.
  • Meets all scheduling and broadcast deadlines.
  • Reviews newscasts to ensure objectives are attained.
  • Contributes ideas for stories both daily and long term.
  • Acts as ambassador for the station to foster public goodwill.
  • Transmits information to supervisors for review.
  • Ability to substitute as an in-studio weather or traffic anchor using chroma wall technology preferred
  • Reports to work to assist with newscasts outside normal work schedule at times of severe weather conditions or breaking news.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for all equipment issued by FOX.
  • Comply with all FOX Corporate computer requirements.
  • Comply with all FOX Corporate and station policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ reporting experience at a local television broadcast media outlet as an Anchor/Reporter, producing and delivering local content preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Radio/TV, or related discipline preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently in a high pressure, fast-paced environment, gathering information to discern the newsworthiness of events.
  • Excellent editorial judgment and the ability to produce content on all newsroom platforms including television, online, and social media.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and interviewees.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, shifts and shows; early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
  • Must have a valid credit card and driver's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
  • Regularly stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly ride in automobiles for extended periods of time to perform job-related activities.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $90,000.00-100,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
