Position Overview

In this role, the Research Associate I, R&D Operations, performs assigned work under supervision.  The Research Associate I will be responsible for supporting all Research and Development operational needs at the Seattle location.   These activities include equipment maintenance, calibration, and qualification,  and ordering and stocking consumables and reagents in the lab.  There are also required periodic activities that must be performed as well as some light bench work.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Responsible for all aspects of the lab including equipment, supplies, software, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with lab staff and assist with routine instrument calibration, IQ/OQ of instruments (PQ as needed) and tracking of instrument maintenance.
  • Monitor laboratory consumables and reagents and restock as needed.
  • Support all direct vendor orders within the R&D organization.
  • Perform required routine daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the lab space.
  • Work cross-functionally with other groups sharing the lab space to ensure the day-to-day operations are running smoothly. 
  • Partner with scientists to execute on experimental protocols in the lab.
  • Regulatory responsibilities per Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Works with scientist to prepare protocol and procedures to design and conduct experiments or other related work as needed.
  • With guidance, collates and interprets data and synthesizes results into a conclusion with their supervisor.
  • Within defined procedures and practices, exercises judgement to determine appropriate actions.
  • Ability to execute experiments efficiently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Other)

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, immunology, chemistry, or other related field.
  • Understands basic practices and principles within field.
  • Familiarity with PCR, qPCR, and sequencing techniques.
  • Knowledge of biological and chemical safety.
  • Knowledge of principles of quality control and quality assurance preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a significant attention to detail.
  • Hands-on, organized, and conscientious.

Working Conditions

Job requires working in a lab and may require handling biological material including blood, bone marrow, and tissue. Work occasionally requires flexible and/or extended hours. 

Physical Requirements

Staff may have to periodically spend extended periods of time standing/sitting within the lab while executing repetitive work, which also includes:

  • Lift <20 pounds regularly
  • Lift >20 pounds occasionally
  • Lift/move large freezers and fridges with the assistance of dollies and carts

Constant work in labs, following all guidelines and protective measures.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $26.87 - $40.33

Other compensation elements include:

  • equity grant
  • bonus eligible

Adaptive’s posted compensation information includes a base salary (or hourly rate) range and summary of other available total compensation. The base salary range represents a minimum-to-maximum salary (or hourly rate) available to candidates upon extension of offer. Base salary is thoughtfully considered upon offer and is determined through multiple evaluation checks throughout the interview process, including: a candidate’s ability to meet minimum qualifications (skills/experience/education), a candidate’s ability to thoughtfully address preferred qualifications, current market conditions, and internal pay equity. Listed base salary is exclusive of bonus, commission, equity, differential pay, benefits, and other incentives.
