Risk Analytics Expert (Remote, Canada & USA)

Events in recent years have made us all too familiar with the havoc that natural disasters can wreak, and the increasing frequency and intensity with which they are occurring. Despite record levels of losses, conventional methods of risk modeling continue to paint at best an incomplete picture of these threats.

ZestyAI ingests novel data sources such as high-resolution aerial imagery, building permits, real estate transaction data etc., and leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) to produce unique insights about risks to properties and communities from natural catastrophes like wildfire, hail, wind and water, along with property characteristics like roof condition and age. ZestyAI provides property and casualty insurers valuable intelligence that helps them, and the communities they serve, better prepare for and navigate catastrophes.

As a Risk Analytics Expert, you thrive in a collaborative and solution oriented culture. You enjoy working with cutting-edge data driven products and finding ways to help customers and prospects understand and realize value from these products. You are a pacesetter who wants to set the standard; you are organized, self-directed, and committed to innovation. More importantly, you can solve the complexities of Property and Casualty insurance analytics while also advising clients on optimizing their implementation strategy around the usage of ZestyAI's products.

What You’ll Do:

  • Enable sales and customer success by leading demonstrations and technical product overviews of ZestyAI’s analytics and software capabilities
  • Advise prospects on how to navigate the regulatory filing process associated with ZestyAI’s products by working and owning the relationship with our actuarial consultants
  • Design and run Pilots and PoCs end to end: sampling design, joining carrier loss data, lift and loss ratio analysis, and presenting results with clear recommendations to actuarial and underwriting leaders
  • Become the team’s expert on ZestyAI solutions, including their key differentiators versus legacy approaches and competing offerings
  • Manage client facing projects from conceptualization to realization within cross-functional client teams to ensure that deliverables are on time, accurate, and exceed client expectations
  • Deliver insights and user feedback to ZestyAI’s Product team to build the next generation of product
  • Lead discovery sessions to uncover client needs and use cases, and map them back to the ZestyAI product offering through real-time problem solving
  • Build AI-assisted workflows that speed up research, analysis and deliverables, and package repeatable work so the whole team can reuse it

What You Bring to the ZestyAI Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (actuarial science, statistics, economics, engineering, data science or similar)
  • 5+ years in P&C insurance analytics, actuarial, underwriting, product, or a vendor role serving carriers
  • Hands-on model validation experience: lift charts, Gini and loss ratio relativities, and explaining what they mean to a non-technical buyer
  • Comfortable writing SQL and Python against large datasets (BigQuery or similar)
  • Daily use of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or similar) for analysis, research and writing, with the judgment to check what they produce
  • Working knowledge of rate filings, class plans, and how carriers bring third-party data into rating and underwriting
  • Strong communication and storytelling with data, from analysts to the C-suite
  • A track record of owning client deliverables and delivering on deadline

Nice to Have:

  • Experience building with AI agents or automations: multi-step workflows, prompts or reusable skills, and connecting tools to data sources
  • Familiarity with AI regulation in insurance, such as the NAIC AI Model Bulletin and Colorado SB21-169 unfair discrimination testing
  • Catastrophe or climate modeling background (RMS, Verisk, KCC or similar)
  • Geospatial analysis (ArcGIS, QGIS, GeoPandas, H3)
  • Sales engineering, pre-sales, or SaaS customer-facing experience
  • Experience running or supporting vendor evaluations, ideally from the carrier side
  • BI tools such as Looker, Power BI or Tableau

Why ZestyAI:

  • Be part of a well-funded growth-stage company
  • Work culture that fosters individual development with leaders committed to your professional growth
  • Do what you love from a place that you love with Remote work environment
  • Market competitive comp and equity incentives to give you a stake in our future
  • Comprehensive health care plan
  • Flexible Time Off
  • An upbeat and collaborative team (bunch of smart people who like to win together)

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
