About Giga

Giga builds the electrical infrastructure that powers the modern world. We manufacture transformers, switchboards, and modular data centers for customers across the United States and the globe. Together, our team combines fresh perspectives with deep industry experience to solve real-world problems for our customers. We move fast and think practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.

About the Role

As a Switchboard Sales Engineer, you serve as the low voltage switchboard technical expert within the sales organization. You provide essential technical guidance to the sales team, helping validate complex requirements and ensure our solutions align with customer specifications. Working collaboratively with other sales engineers who specialize in different areas (such as transformers and high voltage systems), you review RFQs and POs for technical feasibility, engage in technical discussions with customers, and help maintain consistency across technical documentation, including engineering drawings and product nameplates. You also work closely with the Supply Chain team on existing orders to ensure manufactured products fully comply with customer requirements and specifications.

Role Responsibilities
  • RFQ Technical Review: When a salesperson receives a complex switchboard RFQ, collaborate with them to review technical specifications and single line diagrams, determine manufacturing feasibility, identify any needed clarifications, confirm market pricing, and support accurate quote development.
  • Invoice Technical Review: When a salesperson requests an invoice that includes a switchboard, review our quote, customer-provided specifications, bid documents, and purchase order to ensure they align with each other and conform to our capabilities.
  • Drawing Technical Review: When the Switchboard Product Team shares a switchboard engineering drawing and nameplate, review the document to ensure it matches our quality standards and check the design to verify it matches the specifications that appear on the quote & invoice.
  • External Sales Technical Resource: When a salesperson needs assistance addressing technical switchboard-related matters with customers, join customer calls and communications to provide direct technical expertise and support alongside the salesperson.
  • Internal Sales Technical Resource: When a salesperson asks a technical switchboard-related question, provide guidance on specifications, capabilities, and technical requirements. Support them in understanding customer needs, evaluating technical feasibility, and selecting appropriate solutions.
  • Supply Chain Technical Resource: When the Supply Chain or Product Team encounters technical switchboard questions or concerns related to an ongoing order, collaborate with them to proactively resolve issues, validate technical changes, and ensure manufacturing alignment with customer specifications.
  • Technical Training Materials: Create training materials to teach the broader team about switchboards, explaining fundamental concepts, product functionality, individual components, and technical specifications.
  • Quote Tool Development: Assist with developing and maintaining our internal quote tools to ensure salespeople can accurately configure switchboards to capture technical specifications and generate appropriate pricing based on design parameters.

About You

You bring deep low voltage power distribution expertise and practical engineering knowledge, paired with exceptional attention to detail that comes from understanding how even the smallest technical specifications impact project success. Your meticulous approach is balanced by your natural ability to teach and explain complex concepts to diverse audiences. You dive into specification details while keeping sight of the bigger picture, managing multiple projects with both methodical precision and adaptability. Above all, you're driven by solving real-world infrastructure challenges and thrive in collaborative environments where you can share knowledge and learn from others.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field and/or evidence of exceptional experience
  • 2+ years of experience in switchboard design, manufacturing, or application engineering
  • Comprehensive knowledge of switchboard specifications and industry standards (UL 891, NEMA PB-2, NEC/NFPA 70)
  • Proven experience reviewing technical specifications and engineering drawings
  • Strong technical writing abilities for documentation and training materials
  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
