About the Position

As a Sales Engineer, you will be the technical heartbeat of our sales motion. Sitting at the intersection of sales and product, you will work hand-in-hand with Account Executives to guide prospective customers through the technical dimensions of their evaluation — from initial discovery to final sign-off, including building demos. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who loves both the art of the demo and the science of solving real customer problems.

You will own the technical narrative in deals, and your ability to build credibility and trust with technical buyers will directly influence revenue outcomes. Beyond individual deals, you will help shape how our team communicates value and scales technical selling as the company grows.

About You

You are a technically fluent communicator who thrives in customer-facing environments. With 3–5 years of pre-sales or solutions engineering experience in a SaaS setting, you have a track record of turning complex technical evaluations into confident buying decisions. You are equally comfortable whiteboarding an API integration with a developer and presenting a business case to a VP. Comfortable leading discovery conversations, listening actively, and tailoring your approach to any audience, you bring both technical depth and commercial instincts to every deal you touch.

What to Expect in this Position

  • Lead technical discovery sessions to uncover customer requirements, integration needs, and success criteria.
  • Deliver tailored, story-driven product demonstrations that connect platform capabilities to real business outcomes.
  • Build and maintain proof-of-concept environments and custom demo sandboxes for strategic opportunities.
  • Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires with accuracy and appropriate depth.
  • Document technical requirements and commitments made during the sales process to ensure a smooth handoff to Customer Success.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to relay field insights and contribute to roadmap prioritization.
  • Develop reusable technical collateral, competitive battle cards, and demo assets to support the broader SE team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to align on messaging and strategy.
  • Maintain up-to-date deal documentation and activity logging in Salesforce or the relevant CRM.

What Sets You Apart

  • 3–5 years of experience in a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Pre-Sales role at a SaaS company.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active evaluations simultaneously while maintaining quality and follow-through.
  • Strong command of cloud software architecture, REST APIs, and modern integration patterns.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting or coding (Python or JavaScript) to build lightweight demos or integrations. (preferred)
  • Domain expertise in a specific vertical such as FinTech, HealthTech, or Enterprise SaaS. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks including SOC 2, GDPR, or HIPAA. (preferred)
  • Professional certification in a relevant technical or sales methodology (e.g., AWS, Salesforce, MEDDIC). (preferred)

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
