Today, 67% of students and 82% of low-income students can’t read at grade level by the end of third grade. That’s when students are supposed to go from learning to read to reading to learn. It’s America’s number one education crisis and we know how to fix it.

Ignite Reading delivers one-to-one virtual tutoring that teaches every student the foundational skills they need to become a confident, fluent reader. We pair students who need extra support with expert reading tutors who provide daily, 15-minute, Science of Reading-based instruction that rapidly closes their decoding gaps. We focus on the foundational reading skills—phonics, phonemic awareness, and sight words—kids need to master so they can decode a sentence. Students in Ignite Reading’s program achieve over 2 weeks of reading skills growth per week of instruction, and notably all students achieve the same outstanding results including students with IEPs, multilingual learners, students of color and those receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Ignite Reading is a mission-driven public benefit corporation. We believe we can do well for our team members and shareholders while we solve one of the nation’s biggest challenges. We believe we will be more successful with a diverse team and are seeking candidates who have lived experience related to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Your Role

The Sales Operations Associate is the operational backbone of the Ignite Reading Partnerships team. Reporting to the VP of Partnerships, you will own the systems, processes, and data infrastructure that empower our sales team to spend their time where it matters most — building relationships with district leaders and closing deals that expand reading access for students.

This exciting position on a high-growth, mission-driven team is designed for an organized, systems-minded operator who takes genuine pride in building the infrastructure that makes a sales team run at its best. We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-moving environment and is ready to make a real impact for kids learning to read.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Desk & Contract Management

  • Own the deal desk from verbal commitment to signed contract, ensuring speed and accuracy at every step

  • Coordinate all contract redlines using PandaDoc, LegalOn, and outside counsel when required

  • Maintain a library of standard contract language and escalation criteria so Directors of Partnerships can stay focused on selling

  • Track every open contract with clear next actions and deadlines, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks

Commission Calculation & Finance Liaison

  • Own commission calculations for all quota-carrying roles, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery every pay cycle

  • Reconcile revenue data against CRM pipeline to ensure payment accuracy

  • Track payment milestones and proactively flag discrepancies before they impact the team

  • Serve as the internal liaison between the Partnerships team and finance/accounting

  • Build and maintain clear documentation of commission structures so the team always understands how they are paid

HubSpot Governance & Data Integrity

  • Own HubSpot as the source of truth for all pipeline, stage, and account data

  • Champion stage discipline across all deals, keeping pipeline data current and accurate so leadership can make informed decisions

  • Audit and clean pipeline data weekly, surfacing stale deals and data gaps that need attention

  • Own SDR lead routing and territory mapping within HubSpot

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports that give leadership clear, reliable visibility into performance

  • Document all operational processes so the team has a reliable, shared source of institutional knowledge

Forecast Reporting & Systems Administration

  • Own the weekly pipeline report for the VP of Partnerships — accurate, current, and ready every Monday

  • Maintain commit accuracy review, identifying forecast risks and pipeline health issues before they impact decision-making

  • Track renewal pipeline separately from net new, surfacing at-risk accounts and expansion opportunities

Qualifications

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

Sales Operations Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in sales operations, revenue operations, or deal desk support

  • Deep proficiency in HubSpot or a comparable CRM — you have owned data hygiene and governance, not just used the tool

  • Experience with contract management tools such as PandaDoc, DocuSign, or similar

  • Background supporting a quota-carrying sales team — you understand pipeline, close rates, and what sellers need to succeed

Systems & Process Mindset

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority workflows simultaneously with strong follow-through

  • Experience building or maintaining forecast reports and commission workflows for sales leadership

  • Mindset of continuous optimization: you consistently look for ways to improve efficiency and help the team work smarter

  • Comfort in a fast-moving, early-stage startup where you help build processes from the ground up

Core Competencies

  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially on contracts, commission calculations, and financial data

  • Strong written communication: you can document a process clearly enough that anyone can follow it

  • Self-directed and accountable in a remote environment: you manage your own deadlines and surface blockers proactively

  • Experience with LegalOn or similar contract redline and AI review tools (strongly preferred)

  • Comfortable learning and adopting new tools and technologies that help the team operate more effectively

Mission Alignment

  • Genuine passion for literacy equity and the belief that operational excellence directly serves students

  • Energy and optimism even in challenging, fast-changing environments

  • Commitment to doing exceptional work that enables educators, sellers, and ultimately students to thrive

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
